Does anyone know of a living male Brown who descends from Israel Brown of Lunenburg Co., VA (died there about 1760, leaving a Will)? It would be great if a male Brown from that family would take the Y chromosome DNA test via the Brown Genealogy Society DNA testing project (which uses Family Tree DNA).
There were at least four unrelated Brown families in Lunenburg, per existing DNA tests, and we do not know if Israel was a member of one of those four families, versus if he was a member of yet a fifth unrelated Brown family in that area. If Israel was, in fact, a member of one of those four Brown families, DNA "Group 10" at the Brown Genealogy Society seems like the most likely family....but without the referenced Y DNA test, we may never know.
DNA "Group 10" traces back to the Francis Brown "I" who died in Essex Co., VA in 1691/1692 (leaving a Will). It seems at least POSSIBLE that Israel Brown COULD have been a son of the Abraham Brown "II" (born early-1700s) who was a great-grandson of Francis Brown "I"....and who moved to Lunenburg by the early-1760s....but certainly no proof. Thanks.
