Ashmun M. Brown, War Veteran, Dies In U.S. Hospital
Ashmun M. Brown, 37 years old, World War veteran and son of Beriah Brown, pioneer Seattle newspaper man, died suddenly yesterday at the government hospital in Sawtelle, California, according to word received by his sister, Mrs. Margaret Brown Glaser, 2515 East Cherry Street. To distinguish Mr. Brown from his uncle of the same name, a veteran Washington, D.C. correspondent, friends affectionately called him Pete.

Mr. Brown had formerly lived in Seattle and Tacoma. He served on the Mexican border as a member of Troop B of Tacoma and during the World War was in the 144th Field Artillery in the 40th (Sunshine) Division. He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived also by his widow, in California; two brothers, James De Koven Brown, Seattle newspaper man and Nat U. Brown of Yakima and another sister in California.
