"Earl Edward "Buster" Brown, 92, of Aiken, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Savannah, GA, with Chaplain Chuck Courtnay officiating. [P] Mr. Brown was born in Macon, GA, to the late Mary Elizabeth Lewis and Jessie B. Brown. He was predeceased by his wife, Henry Stokes Brown. He lived in Savannah, GA, Houston, TX, and Batesburg-Leesville, before coming to Aiken. He was a member of Sons of the American Revolution, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Philatelic Society. He was chief petty officer in World War II and the U.S. Navy. He served in the British Solomon Islands and Guadal Canal. [P] Survivors include two daughters, Frances Y. Brown (Travis E.) Spears, Cardiff by the Sea, CA, and Nancy E. Brown (James C.) Tritt, Dallas, TX; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Mosley (Henry C.) Moore, West Columbia; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. [P] Memorials may be directed to Door of Hope Ministry, P.O. Box 2294, Evans, GA 30809. [P] A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Cumberland Village, Aiken. [P] The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. this evening at Shellhouse Funeral Home, Inc., 924 Hayne Ave., Aiken."
