Mrs. Esther Brown of Newspaper and Radio Family Dies
Shreveport, LA - Mrs. Esther Ewing Brown, member of a prominent Louisiana newspaper and radio family, was found dead in her home Sunday.
Dr. Charles S. Boone, Deputy Coroner, reported cause of death as accidental suffocation. He said a settee in Mrs. Brown's bedroom was found burned, probably ignited by a cigarette she smoked before she went to bed.
Dr. Boone said she probably awakened when the smoke got dense, struggled thru a doorway into the hall, and then collapsed.
