I would like to exchange information with anyone doing research on the John Marion BROUGHTON family. John Marion BROUGHTON (1854 AL - 1941 TX) was the son of James Warren Broughton (1829? AL - 1865? Civil War, CO E, 23rd Alabama) and Martha Jane DAILEY of Monroe County, AL. James Warren BROUGHTON was the son of James R. BROUGHTON and Unknown first wife (possibly a WARREN). James R. BROUGHTON (1803 SC - 1870s AL) was the eldest son of Nathaniel BROUGHTON (1768 SC - 1852 MS) and Sarah BENBOW. There have been two family trees submitted to Ancestry.com on the John Marion BROUGHTON family. I have been in touch with one of the submitters, but the second submitter did not provide any contact info. I am especially interested in corresponding with this second "unknown" submitter.

James Warren BROUGHTON married Martha Jane DAILEY, daughter of William and Eunice DAILEY, on September 11, 1853 at the Charles R. BROUGHTON residence in Monroe County, AL (Note: Charles R. BROUGHTON was the uncle of James Warren BROUGHTON). In the Monroe County, AL probate records of the William DAILEY estate starting in 1856, we learn that Martha Jane died before November 1857 and that James W. BROUGHTON was appointed guardian of their son, John M. BROUGHTON. On February 6, 1860, Thomas J. DAILEY (brother of Martha Jane) was appointed guardian; In 1863, Charles R. BROUGHTON was appointed guardian; and in 1868, Burrell BAILEY (husband of Martha Jane's sister, Mary) was appointed guardian. John Marion BROUGHTON is found on the 1870 census of Monroe County, AL in the Burrrell BAILEY Household. This family and others from Monroe County, AL moved to Bastrop County, Texas in the 1870s.
