New York Times, 18 April 1893, page 1:
"Fatal Boiler Explosion.
Parkersberg, West Va., April 17.--The boiler of Coldiers grindstone factory at Briggs Station exploded to-day, instantly killing John Space and fatally wounding Rolla Coldier, William Tallon, and Samuel Brookover. The factory was left a complete wreck."
New York Times, 23 December 1883, page 7:
"KILLED ON A SHAFT.
Parkersburg, West Va., Dec. 22--John Brookover, an employee of the West Virginia Fibre Company at this place, while adjusting a belt this afternoon, was caught and whirled about a shaft several hundred times with great velocity. When the machinery was stopped Brookover whas hanging head downward from the shaft with his neck broken and his body terribly mangled."
