Hi, i met a distant cousin a little while ago, our gr gr gr grandfathers were brothers, their parents were John Briles and Ann Nancy Beckerdite I was descended from their son Noah Briles and my newly found cousin was descended from Daniel Briles (death date was 1865) who married Elizabeth Davenport, Their son was Daniel Eli Briles born 1838 in north carolina, he married Emily Nancy Sawyer, Their son was Enoch Elwood Briles born 1860 in North Carolina he married Maggie Ora Porterfield and the name Elwood is carried on in this family. so, i think its most likely that you are of this same line, since I havnt found the Elwood name used in other Briles family lines.
