Surnames: Briggs, Lindsay, McGee, Field, Sherwood, Wilkinson, Bell
Elizabeth Briggs was born c. 1784, and died on May 13, 1871, in Guilford County, NC. She was married to William Lindsay (c. 1777-1841) a son of Robert Lindsay (d. 1801) and Nancy (Anne) McGee (c. 1754-1832) a daughter of Colonel John McGee (d. 1773).

The Lindsay and McGee families were Scots Irish Presbyterians, and early settlers of the Guilford/Randolph County area in NC. When Guilford County was formed in 1771, the county court met at the home of Robert Lindsay for the first four years of its existence. William and Elizabeth are buried at the Lindsay cemetery near the site of this old home. I have thus far been able to find nothing about Elizabeth Briggs. I am hoping some of you can help me.

William and Elizabeth had a daughter Guilianna Lindsay (1807-1885) who married Elswick S. Field in 1831. They had 8 children: Martha Eliza (c. 1832-1844), Eleanor B. (c. 1833), William B. (c. 1835), Susan L. (c. 1838), Robert H. (c. 1840), Thomas E. (c. 1843), John Andrew (1846-1883) and Frances Guilianna (1851-1919). I am descended from John Andrew Field, my 2nd great grandfather.

Best Regards,
