Thomas Brennan (Kilkenny)

12 years searching and still no way forward but still not giving up.
The only info I have is my Thomas Brennan (the junior) was born around 1880. His father was also Thomas Brennan (the senior) he was a land steward on a large estate said to be near Kilkenny.
Thomas Brennan (the junior) was a travelling showman. He married 1907 in Co Cavan to Bessie Minna who was a concert singer from England. They travelled throughout Ireland with their travelling Bazaar, the names of the Bazaar changed but was often known as The Connaught Bazaar. They had 4 children but seperated around 1925. The only address I have for Thomas junior is in Raphoe 1939.
It would be a miracle if anyone could connect to my Thamas Brennan's!
Regards Jackie
email jackie005@talktalk.net

Brennan, Thomas his sister Mary and brother/cousin Patrick from Athlone, Westmeath

I'm interested in the family of Thomas or possibly John Brennan and Bridget Welch, Catholics from Westmeath Ireland whose children and their spouses included:
Thomas who married Mary Coghlan,
Mary who married Hugh Mackay and
Patrick Brennan (possibly a cousin).

They emigrated to Sydney I believe on the John Fenwick in 1841. Hugh and Mary are listed as Mackin on the ship records.

Thomas and his wife, and Hugh and Mary Mackay moved north to Qld in the late 1840s. Thomas farmed around Redbank and Hugh and Mary were at Esk, the Five Mile Waters eventually settling near Harrisville on a property they called Thornhill. Hugh and Mary are my great great grandparents.

I would love to hear from anybody researching these families. Cheers all Anne

I also believe they were married in Ireland in the 1880's. They some how ended up living in Duryea, Pa and in 1897 he was killed in the coal mines. At the time of his death his children were John, James, Joseph, Veronica, Rose, Anthony and my GGrand mother Mary Ann.

Thomas Brennan, headmaster in Leeds or Hunslet Yorkshire, died Sept 1938

Am trying to locate more info for Thomas Brennan (married 1900 to Mary Rogan in Hunslet). They lived at 47 Stratford St in Hunslet at the time of Thomas' death 29-Sep-1938. He was retired Headmaster of an elementary school.

Trying to locate a copy of the newspaper article that appeared at the time of his death, hopefully a picture, but especially to identify the name of the school. It probably would have been a Catholic school, as he had aspirations at one time of becoming a priest.

Have sent for marriage certificate that would prove Thomas was son of Michael Brennan (b ca 1830, Mayo) and Catherine Manning (b ca 1837, Mayo). Siblings John Michael (m. Mary CUDDY), Patrick, Ann, Michael, Ellen, William, Mary.

Would appreciate any leads/suggestions/connections.

Thanks! ~Carol Hornung (Michigan, USA)

James Connor Brennan's parents were from Roscommon (father also James) and Boston Mass. (mother - Johana) James' middle name is his mothers maiden name. My connection is through his father who is a brother to my relation. Would love to hear from you - I have a few other bits of info you might be interested in, I can also tell you where the family originate as there are still family living on the farm - where my mother was born. Please, please email to bat.21@hotmail.co.uk
so look forward to hearing from you
best regards
Noel

There was a Cormick Brennan who arrived in New York from Liverpool
aboard the Neptune on May 19, 1864. He was about 20 years of age
born about 1844. Traveling with him was 7 year old Bridget Brennan.

I don't know what became of that Cormic(k). I don't see him
in familysearch.org on the Ancestry censes.

My mother Monica was the daughter of Dan and Anne Brennan of Clooncraff.
There were 6 different Brennan houses then. Most of the houses were known by their grandfather's name, although our house was known as Dan's.
My late uncle, Donal Brennan wrote a history of the Brennans of Clooncraff which may be available from Roscommon Library.
Dan and Donal are still very common Brennan names, also Owen and Hugh.
Owen Brennan is now the proprietor of the pub in Kilteevan and he or his father, Gene, would have a lot of information

Sorry to join the party late, but the Hugh Brennan who married Anna Schneider in St, Mary's, PA was from Benedicta, Maine. He was born to John Brennan and Julia Brennan. He is my great great grandfather. We are not sure how he decided to go to St. Mary's or why he left Benedicta. One of his sons, Joseph, who is my great grandfather returned to Beneditca and married a distant cousin also from Benedicta. In Benedicta, Hugh was known as Owen. My grandfather confirmed this to me before he died. My grandfather suspected Hugh had gotten into some type of trouble as a young man and skipped town and changed his first name, but that is has never been confirmed. My great grandfather Joseph died young, and family from St. Mary's travelled to Benedicta for the funeral. My grandfather was in touch with cousins from both Benedicta and St. Mary's in the 1970's and 1980's.

Hello Brendan,
Brennans are still in the hardware business in Dubbo. They trade as Brennan's Mitre10. I'm sure they have a web site. Frank Brennan has recently retired as manager and now I think his son Michael is manager.
From the Ryerson web site (a listing of death notices and obituaries taken from Australian news papers) I have found the following:
Roy Edward Brennan (MicK), died 1 June 2009 at Anaster Residential Care. Death notice published in the Adelaide Advertiser 6 June 2009. Age 95.
William Sydney Brennan, died 18 Oct 1983, "late of Dubbo formerly of Cobar". Death notice published in the Sydney Morning Herald 19 Oct 1983. Age 75.
I would think Frank is the son of Bill and Michael is his grandson.
Regards
Charlie Brennan - no relation.

The thing is that the dates are off. My g-father, Patrick, was born in 1861 according to some marriage info I had sent to me. If that's so, then his father, Hugh, would have to have been born probably in the 1820's, '30's or '40's.
I appreciate all the trouble that you've gone to to help me. Thanks for taking the time. I will save all info-who knows when something might help or who might be related?

The message before yours also told me about Mary and her siblings. The parents names add up but as far as I know the kids' don't. My G-father, Patrick, born in 1861 would have been a sibling. So would my G-Aunt, Annie, born in 1871 or so. Trouble is all of these are such common Irish names. Maybe my g-grandfather and g-grandmother lived in another county. I heard County Clare mentioned as a child. I just don't know much at this point. Thanks so much for taking the time to try and help!
