I am searching for links to Johann V. Klug.Katharina's name is either spelled with K or C. She came over from Germany in 1840 at the tender age of 14. Her and Johann were married in Cincinnati Ohio 1848.Her death is 4/13/1896.They had 12 children together. Any info on this is greatly appreciated.

Her father was Lewis Adam Brendel ( no further information) and her mother is unknown. Her grandfather was Frederich Brendel born January 25, 1813 in Jana/Jeca, Germany. I am looking for information or surviving relatives of comeidan El / Elmer Brendel. He appeared in many films at Fox in 1930's and did a string of shorts for Columbia in the 1940's as well as many TV shows. He was married to songstress Flo Bert / Brendel. Most of the records I found come from The Pennsylvania area, but Brendel moved to California in the late 1920's.

I found the gravesite of my great-uncle and and his wife buried in St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., MO. His surname was Arnold, but I believe his wife's surname was Brendel as they are buried with the Brendels. Some of the names are: Celeste P, John Sr. John Jr., Minnie, Henry J., Blanche I.

Please let me know if you think there is a connection. I believe they immigated from Germay or France about 1850.

I am researching a Brendel family which lived in Hoboken from 1870's to 1948. George Peter, usually referred to as Peter, came as a sailor for the Hamburg-Amerika Lines, transporting immigrants from Hamburg. He married carolina Mussmann about 1886, in either Hoboken or Jersey City and raised a family of three, Philip, Frederick, Lena. George Peter was born and raised in Speyer, Bayern, Germany and his mother was living there at the time of her death in the early 1880's. supposedly this couple helped relatives from both the Brendel and Mussmann families to emigrate, mainly through Port of Baltimore. Would love to find extended cousins. Have several generations back in Speyer, Germany.

Hi,

when searching for ancestors one has always to keep in mind all the different spelling variants. That's not different with people named Brendel or similar. You'll find such variants for instance with a search on the Ellis Island database (EIDB) at http://www.ellisislandrecords.org/ when selecting 'Alternative spellings...'

My own surname is btw Brandl, a surname of German origin. In English pronounciation this can easily become anything between Bendel, Brandel, Brendal etc. - not yet accounting for simple spelling errors.

What I would suggest for anyone researching a name like this is to post queries also to the variant surnames boards, like in particular the BRANDL board at http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/board/rw/Surnames.Brandl

most of you are certainly aware of the fact, that there are lots of spelling variants for Brendel.

For those who aren't, let me draw your attention for instance to the BRANDL message board at http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/board/rw/Surnames.Brandl But of course there are several more query boards and mailing lists for variant spellings out there.

My own family's name, BRANDL, goes back quite a long time. But when I dug out the father of my last known BRANDL ancestor, what a surprise: His name in the books was PRAENDL, born in about 1717.

Yes, Otto Brendel was my grandfather, Harry's father. He disliked the name Otto and so everyone called him Bren. Theresa Wannag was his second or third wife, I am not sure. His first wife, my grandmother, died. I think she died during child birth but I am not sure. I have somewhere here information and family history about the Mackeys (my mothers family) and I think about the Brendels. I believe the Brendels were from Pennsylvania. Or my grandmother Brendel's maiden name was Miller.

Otto Brendel was born in Germany, probably in the vicinity of Unsleben, Bavaria, and immigrated to New Jersey in the 1920s - 1930s. He married Marie Blum (b. 24 Dec 1906, Unsleben, Germany - d. 19 Nov 1987, Whiting?, NJ). Otto and Marie had no children. Otto's birth date is likely similar to Marie's, and he died between 1948 - 1952 in NJ. He founded Brendel's Delicatessen in Keansburg, NJ.

Siblings of his wife Marie Blum are Joseph Blum, Monica Blum Frickel, and Antonie (Toni) Blum Boms. All four were born in Unsleben, Germany. It is unknown if Otto Brendel had brothers or sisters.
