ALBERT BRECKWOLDT emigrated to New Zealand from London, 1856, in EGMONT. Presumably he came originally from Hamburg or elsewhere in Germany.
BUT WHO WAS HE REALLY? If you have him in your family, and he's real, please tell me. Because it seems possible he's my ancestor, Theodore Gotthilf Heinrich EDER, running away from the military draft at almost 20 years old. He comes ashore in New Zealand and vanishes, where almost every German on that sailing - there were a large group - is accounted for.
