I'm trying to find the parents of my husbands ancestor, Lewis Tucker Brant, who died in 1899 in Warren County NJ. He was married to Kate Clary. We don't know for sure, but we've read some articles that lead us to believe the Lewis, who worked on the railroad his whole life, had a brother named William Brant.
I've found a death record (on familysearch.org) for William Brant, who also worked on the railroad. It says:
Father: Walter Brant, born in Canada
Mother: Margaret Young, born in Canada
Spouse: Catherine Kramer
Born: 30 Nov 1829 (or maybe 1830) in NJ
Died: 7 Apr 1925, Freeport Illinois.
I've seen several trees here on ancestry.com with almost this exact information, but indicate William was born in Canada. Or indicate William's parents were born in NJ, rather than Canada.
I'm hoping to find definitive proof of any of this, and then any indication of if this William is my Lewis' brother. Would love a point in the right direction from anyone who can help. Thanks!
