Kathleen Mary Biggs (1890-1980) - A Kelper's Memories written about 1973
While still at Port Stephens I was given my first picture book by Dean Brandon, it was 'Under the Greenwood Tree'. He travelled around the camp in schooners, holding services, and always taking his Magic Lantern and a collection of slides with him. He would give a show at each farm. Everyone looked forward to his visits. He was a wonderful man. We were Roman Catholics but both in Stanley and the camp he visited everyone, regardless of their religion. I remember him coming to our house in Stanley, to say goodbye before leaving the Falklands. He was greatly missed and I don't think could ever be replaced. The first library was installed by him, in the vestry of the Cathedral, at 2d per book. Mr Brandon looked after it.
