JOAN M. BRANDON, died quietly on Jan. 6, 2011.
The feisty Joan spent her last days showered with love from her family and friends.
Born July 16,1930, she was a resident of Chagrin Falls, Ohio from 1965 to the present.
Joan graduated from Rodgers High School in Newport, Rhode Island in 1949, and then proceeded to graduate as a nurse at the Newport Hospital School of Nursing.
She worked for the Chagrin Valley Times as a reporter as well as writing a popular column called "Short Stuff".
Her parents, Mary and Charles, and five siblings preceded her in death.
She was married to John for 57 years.
Loving mother of John, Joan, Jacqui (Thomas) Gripman, and Judy (Colleen). She also leaves behind her brilliant grandchildren: Jeremy and Jamie Barker; Sam and Josh Gripman; Katie and Megan O'Connell and Casey Brandon.

She's also survived by her brother Robert, and many nieces, nephews and friends, who held a special place in her heart. Joan had many passions, she loved traveling, and nature and took many beautiful photos of her adventures.

Joan championed the underdog and was a strong supporter of social justice. She loved all kinds music and literature, but Is known mostly for her strong wit and mischief making. She will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends and relatives FROM 1-4 P.M. SUNDAY, JAN. 9 AT STROUD-LAWRENCE FUNERAL HOME, 95 S. FRANKLIN ST., CHAGRIN FALLS.
