Daniel, are you still around?
I am looking for info for my John Brandon family, who is also from Roane Co Tenn, moved to Al and then to Arkansas and MIssouri. I would love to see how we might be connected. i dont have any parents for my John b abt 1804 (in Va?), but I know that his sons traveled with Rufus Lafayette Brandon, and were very close with the particular Brandon line- I just cannot find a definite connection or kinship yet.
Basic timeline says that many Brandon family members of this line & these generations could be found in:
(probable: John Brandon born abt 1804 in VA. If he follows other Brandons, he was probably in Roane CO TN by 1810-1815.)
1832-1834 in Tenn (John & Eliz Henson: Roane County marriage, birth of 1st child Charles L.)
1836-1840 in Alabama (birth of children Margaret, Walter, & Ann)
1843 in Texas (birth of Sarah Brandon -daughter or cousin? Was whole family in Texas, or just this person born there?)
1845-1852 in Missouri (birth of Luther Benton, Mary, John Adam, & Hugh Frances)
1850 in Dallas County, MO US census
1860 in Benton Township, Polk Co Missouri on US census records.
Last record of the parents: 1868 Franklin County MO. John and Elizabeth are last seen on the Missouri state census
1870 – Charles & family in Taney Co MO census. Walter W with wife/family and brother Hugh in White Township Grey County Ar.(next to a physician WJ Brandon.)
1872 – John Adam Brandon marries Emma Robinson in Palestine, Anderson Co TX. They set up house in Coryell Co Tx. (nothing in 1870 census for John & Eliz, or John Adam. Unknown if they are together, in MO Ar or Tx.) Charles and Hugh (and Rufus) were in Texas near John Adam before 1880.
*Charles married Eliz Wright of Illinois, traveled and went to Ca, came back to MO & eventually came to Texas around 1872.
Walter Wadsworth lived in Arkansas in 1870 & 1880.
Benton stayed in MO, possibly to Ark abt 1870, Pope Ark 1880 then 1900 Comanche Co TX as Luther Benton.
Hugh F was in Searcy Arkansas (Grey County) in 1870 next to (a possible cousin) Rufus Lafayette Brandon.
Hugh F and Rufus went to Texas about 1871-72. Brother Charles & family probably soon followed.
There may be more children or another marriage for eldest parent John Brandon.
These folks were Presbyterian or Methodist and it is said they were originally Scots/Irish.
I have huge files (yes, nos and maybes) for these guys, but when researching the oldest John Brandon there are several born abt same time and same place and I cannot place mine exactly within a particular line. It seems likely they are related to Hugh Harvey and Lewis Brandon, and Pleasant/Adam Brandon lines, but.....????
Will be glad to share notes and info.
