John Charles - or John Chiles - BRANDON, b. 27 FEB 1840, N.C. d. 25 MAR 1910, Clay, ARK. m: Melinda Jane CARLTON. [Melinda Jane CARLTON who married John C., and Sarah Catherine CARLTON, who married Joseph N., were sisters. QUESTION: Were they related to Martha CARLTON, w/o Elijah???]
Thomas Van Buren - or Thomas V.B. - BRANDON, b. 11 JUL 1841 N.C., d. 27 OCT 1919 Emmet, Gem, ID. m: 1862, to: Susan LNU, b. 17 NOV 1833 N.C. d. 7 MAY 1903 Carrollton. Bur: Carrolton Cem., Carrolton, ARK. (not sure of spelling!) They had 10 children - 6 of whom "lived." [Susan's parents both born in N.C.]

Just a total guess on my part - but I'm thinking your Elijah is probably brother or cousin of George Calviness BRANDON.
