Hi, I´m a descendant of Josef Brandl, who was born in Frischwinkl (near Eisenstrass) in Bohemia in 1880.

He had some siblings - Katharina (*1864 in Todlau (Datelov)), Maria (*1868 in Dorstadt(Mestiste)), Anna (*1878 in Frischwinkl), Ferdinand (*1883 in Dorstadt - died as a child), maybe there were more children.

Their parents were Ferdinand Brandl (*1840 in Seewiesen - Schuhkatchken?) and Barbara Böhm (*1843 in Todlau).

My graet-grandfather married Franziska Urban from Wölsdorf (Vlckovice)and they lived in Reicheberg (maybe in Gablonz an der Neisse - I am not sure).

They had 4 children - Frida (my grandmother), Ferdinand, Julie and Marie. All of them (expect my grandmother) were after WWII moved to Germany. My mother should have there one cousin and she should have one daughter.

Is there anyone who is related to this Brandls?

Stally23 - I sure hope that we are somehow related to your Josef Brandl, as many of us have been searching for the link to Josef and his predecessors. Eisenstrass seems to be near Eisenstein (present day Czech town of Zelezna Ruda and the villagae formed at WWII conclusion called Bayerish Eisenstein). Many of these folks from this area (Kelnhofer's, Brandl's, etc.) emmigrated to the United States and seemed to settle near Aburndale, WI. That is my connection.

All we know about Josef is that he was born about 1820 in Austria. His son Michael Senior was born in Eisenstein 16 May 1844. Then Michael Junior, Carrie, Theresia, George G,and my Grandfather Anton came along.

Do you have a complete list of Josef's children that will confirm this Josef had a son named Michael?

Thank you for your reply.
But unfortunately i have to say, that i don´t see any conection. My Josef Brandl was sure born in 1880. His father was Ferdinand Brandl (*1840), hist father Franz Brandl (*1794)and his father Mathias Brandl (now I don´t know yet when he was born).
Sure, I don´t have complete information about tis family, but now I don´t have that your Josef Brandl (* about 1820) :-( All of these Brandl were born in Seewiesen - expect Josef Brandl who was born in Frischwinkl (near Eisenstrass).
And now I don´t have information about Brandls emigration...I still live in Czech Republic...:-)

I found your post very interesting, my Father's name was Johann Anton Brandl (born 30/06/1926) in Rosstal Bavaria, and his mothers name was Katharina Brandl, on his birth Certificate it says that she was a resident in Rosstal, but shows no Fathers name so I presume he was illigitimate, he talked about his Grandmother who's name was Freda who also lived in Rosstal he also talked about Ernst and Franz, I have been trying to trace this side of the family for some time now so I hope we have a conection.

Hello,

I have a Great Grandfather named Ferdinand Brandl (born abt 1864) who immigrated to the US (Dubuque, Iowa) in approximately 1888. I am looking for further information on him as I have hit a dead end. He was said to be Bohemian. I am wondering if there is any relation here. Seems to be a few Ferdinands in you lineage! HE had a Wife named Anna in Iowa and a son George my grandfather.

Oh my! so many of the names you mention are familiar. My family includes Linsmeier, Schreiner Dums Hilgart and many others. There is Brandl in the Dums line. My family originalted in Hammern, Seewiesen, Gruen, Eisenstein area. I know also that these families settled in Wisconsin in The Park Falls area of Wisconsin, near Auburndale, the town of Greenwood near Rib Lake, Taylor Co. WI fianially my ancestors started in Menasha and later moved to Rib Lake. Does any of this look familiar?
