Hi,
I'm Erin Brandel Dykhuizen. Brandel is my maiden name. My father is Michael John Brandel of Appleton, WI. My Grandfather was Herbert Victor Brandel (lived and died in Manitowoc, but was born on a farm outside of Manitowoc), and I believe his mother was Anna Brandel. Grandpa Brandel died in 2001 in Manitowoc, I think his mother died in the late 80's/early 90's -- I didn't know great grandma well at all.
If you want more info, I can ask my dad for more exact dates. Antone sounds familiar, two. I'll have to go look at some of the old photos.
Erin

Thanks for the info , I am willing to listen to any thing as this has been a dead end. there are no recorded deaths of anton or his wife catherine. Anna was married in Oconto in 1885 and the Brandels there are related but how?

Thanks again

Have been trying to gather information about wolfgang's father, Joseph Brandl and Joseph's two wives. the first wife and Wolfgang's mother was Theresa Kerscher.
I am looking for my gg-grandfather, Andrew Brandel. I have little information on him. We have a very approximate birthdate of about 1819. He was born in Germany. They had several children, Robert (my g-grandfather) born in 1856, John 1849, Frank 1853, Anna, 1858, Joseph 1860, Margaret 1863, Andrew 1866, and Rosey 1870.

My grandfather lived in Allegany, Cattaraugus County, NY as it is believe his father did. We "assume" Andrew and Catherine lived in that vacinty somewhere too.

Any help would be appreciated!
Charlene Brandel Robinson

Because of the difference in dates, my Charles was born around 1824 I don't think we can find a direct connection without your George's parents, do you know who they were? I know my great grandfather, Valentine Luppert was in New York for five years before going to Michigan to live with his uncle Charles. It's possible he lived in New York during that time with another uncle. 1868/69 is when he went to Michigan. Sorry, but if you find a connection, let me know directly at PKgaulke@aol.com

Chatting with my sister in Mich I learned that in the vast box of pictures there is one of Ethel Wager, whom we think, was a girlhood friend of one of the Reid girls from the Thumb area. They would be Viva, Erma Jean or May. My mom was Viva and Grandmother was Mary Elley Reid from the Deford area.
Karen, in answer to your question about my grandfather and what I know: I never knew him as he died in 1927. He was a traveling salesman for McNess and Company and travelled near Cass City MI. He was born Henry Rawlings Wager in September 17 1862 somewhere in Canada. His parents were James Franklin Wager and Jane Rawlings. Some notes writen by my fmother indicate that James was Irish and Dutch. And Jane was English. I have been unable to locate his birthplace but haven't really worked on it. He taught school before becoming a salesman. He had polio as a child and attended Ferris Institute in Big Rapids MI. I'm at my daughter's visiting for a week and that is the info she has in her geneology file - I don't know that I have any more at home in LA. Are you a Wager family member?

Marcia
MsSFV@aol.com

Karen, thanks for the reply. No, my grandfather was Henry Rawlings Wager so they are not the same. This is the first time I've found any Wager information. Any clues as to where else I could look would be appreciated. Marcia MsSFV@aol.com

My Grandfather 'George Barker Brandel' was born in 1883, was orphaned apparently around 1890. Was adopted by (Loesch) family in Lancaster NY at that time. George apparently had a brother who lived in Michigan, we think it was Detroit. We know nothing either of his brother or of his parents. Dates are all out of whack but maybe they are connected? My mothers recollection before she died was that George and brother were orphaned when parents travelled from Canada to New York, caught flu and died and left the boys to fend for themselves.

In 1870 he was living with Charles Brandel in Wacousta with wife Frances and 8 children, George 19; Frances, 18; Mary (could be Margaret), 16; Catherine, 14; John, 11; Peter, 9; Elizabeth, 9; Louis, 4. Frances was 45 at the time, but could have added Margaret to the family. What do you think, any connection?

Sarah J. Fisher states she had 11 children and 3 are alive in 1900. Know children are Mary A., Emma, Merrit, Mereland, Clara, Ethel, and Leone. Believe that Ethel b. March 1876, married Alvin E. Griffith b. March 1874 and lived in Detroit Michigan in 1900. Living with Ethel in 1900 are her parents, but they are back in Pentwater in 1910. Abraham and Sarah came from Williamsport, Pa., were they lived with oldest daughter Mary A. in 1860. In 1880 Sarah appears in Armstrong Twp., Lycoming Co., Pa. (near Williamsport) with all above listed children except Mary A., and Jacob 98 lives with her and is listed as father to her. Since Abraham's father should be around 96-98 and was named Jacob I believe this Jacob to be Abraham's father. Sarah's parents are Andrew and Amy Hill of Lycoming Co., near Williamsport and then Sonestow,Sullivan Co., Pa. Merrit married Minnie Theresa Geppert and had two children Glenn A. Fisher and Pauline D. Fisher. M. Theresa Geppert had two sisters that I am aware of Eva and Laura Geppert. Glenn married Gladys Brandel. Would like to connect with Sarah and Abraham's family, I have a great deal of info on Sarah's sisters.

SOLDIERS SHOT KILLS WOMAN IN LA AUTO

Los Angeles, Dec. 15, 1941- A a9 year old army private who fired his gun when a motorist refused to halt was in jail for suspision of murder, booking today as the army issued an appeal for cooperation with sentinels and patrols.
The army gave Private Eugene I. Tuttle of Divide Montana, into the custody of the sherriff last night after Adele Brandel, 52, socially prominent Los Angeles woman, was shot to death near municipal airport.
Sherriff's inspector Walter Hunter said Tuttle, of the 65th Field Arteliery, told him a motorcycle officer asked several soldiers to help him strip blue coverigns from automobile headlights.
When the automobile bearing Mrs. Brandel and her husband, Harry M. Brandel, refused to stop at Tuttle's command, the youth fired. "I thought I fired into the air", the soldier was quoted as saying.
Dr. Brandel failed to stop ecause he thought the soldiers were trying to get a ride.
After last weeks initial air raid alert, many motorists insttalled blue coverings on their automobile lights in the mistaken belief they could drive during blackouts in that manner.

Sacramento Bee, 12/16/1941
Mary BRANDEL in/around Randolph, Wisconsin

Looking for information on a Mary Brandel to tie her to my family. I have several old photos of my grandmother, Katherine E. Owen, and a Mary Brandel is in the same pictures, but don't know how the two are connected - if they were related or just good friends. Also don't know if Brandel was Mary's maiden name or a married name. Katherine was born in 1875 and the photos were taken when the 2 of them were young women. Katherine was born in Illinois, but siblings were born in the Randolph area. Found an Edward & Mary J. Brandel in Randolph in the 1930 census - and Mary was born about 1880 so it's possible this may be her, but don't know. If anyone has information on a Brandel family connected to an Owen family I'd appreciate hearing from you. This mystery has been "bugging" me for years. Thanks, Peggy Frost
