katie, i am not sure if you are replying to tracie's message, or cale's. i am a friend of tracie's mother, and tracie and cale lived with me in greenwood at one time. i didn't know tracie was trying to locate him until i read this message. i will try to tell her, but where exactly are you located? greenwood?

Maybe the person you are looking for is Michele Connell. Spelled with one "l". She is or was married. She is now known as Michele Connell and last lived in Richmond, Virginia. I think she and her husband have split. I met her father, who was visiting from Florida (I think still lives there, but I don't know for sure or where) and his name was Don Brandal. Nice guy. Big guy. Michele is very nice, too. Good luck.

Dear Jami, we are linked! but am not sure how. I have calling cards of Joseph and Jacob brandal. Have old photos(saved from my in-laws attic) one is Lester as a young man, I know he was in wwi and had several wives lived mostly single. His father Jacob and Mother Hattie who was 16 yrs older, in 1915 married Lafayette Down(have wed. photo) Hattie was born in England, Lester was their youngest. I think my John brandal is Jacob, Samuel and probably Joseph's, brother. He married Catherine Shrik, their children Daniel, rebecca, hannah and cashes and more according to the census. daniel married
jane buss, children lloyd and albert, lloyd is my husbands grandfather. I also have more brandal photos but can't identify, only one says to uncle dan aunt jane, from fred, hannah and lewie jolly. from portland mi but mentioned moving to mo. my father in law didn't know any of this as dan never talked of his family. hope to hear from you. jane

I was born in Florida in 1972 to Kathleen Mack, was told Donald Brandal was my father, I have never met him. Was told by my grandmother he had a daughter named Michelle.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My GGG-Grandfather is a Joseph Brandal (Brandle) born 12 April 1815 in PA died 24 Oct 1885 in Thompson, Seneca, OH. He married Mary Lepley 1 Jan 1839 and had at least 9 children, Christian, Jacob, Mary Ann, Eliza, Hannah, Catherine, Matilda, Josoph Jr. & Roena, Regina, Rachael or Reena (something like that)

Is this the same Joseph?

There is a town in Norway named Brandal. It is located on the West coast of Norway, near Alesund. Many of the Brandals still live there. If you are related to them, then we are also cousins.

It was great to get a reply from a possible cousin. I'll give you some information I got at a Brandal get-together. M mother's name was Brenda Brandal before her marriage. Her father was Murl Brandal, now deceased. His brothers and sisters were Lloyd (still living at 92), his twin Floyd, Harry, Mable, Dolly, and Carl. They were all from the Michigan area. Their father was William Brandal, and his wife was Sarah Strouce. William's father's name was Jacob Brandal. Jacob's brother I believe was Samuel Brandal, and I was told that he came over possibly from Norway. My mother is unsure, but she also remembers two possible uncles named Lester and Charles Brandal. There seems to be a link. My grandmother says that Lester was my grandfather's brother, there were also William and Charles. Lester was in WWII. Hattie was my mother's grandmother. My grandmother always said she was a stubborn ole englishwoman. If you have the ability to send some of those photos over the web it would be great. Jami

yes this is true, my great grandfather came from brandal in norway and moved to novia scotia in the middle 1800's and then he moved to alaska and had a fox farm and fished most of his life and he married to a aleut russian mix gal named virginia and they had lots of kids and their kids had more also and i came from a family of 8 myself and i have five girls and we live in anchorage alaska, i was born in kodiak alaska
i wrote to church in haried norway and got information aslo.
am related to melseth side of family on mothers side when granfather came from sky----- norway in early 30's
