I am looking for descendants of the brothers and sisters of Maggie Bradford Evans born in Madison, Alabama. Their parents were Evans and Daphne Bradford. They both were slaves. Evans could speak little English, but often spoke of being chained and brought to the U.S. in a big boat. Daphne's date of birth is incorrect in the census. The census states she was born in 1880 and married in 1890, her childrens date of birth is listed as being born before she was born. According to my mother, Ida Mae Evans Hughes, Daphne often spoke of seeing the stars fall in Alabama. She also professed to be twelve years of age when she was freed from slavery. Maggie had sisters named Cora and Pearl among others. She also had brothers, one named Olvine.
