Hi. I'm new to this and am hoping I can get some pointers from anyone willing to do so. I am a Boyatt, but my father passed away when I was a baby. He was an only child, so I have almost nothing to work with. I have traced back to Massachusetts, Tennessee and Kentucky. I got as far back as a David who I think was in the Civil War, but the link is blocked as private. I live in tha Pacific Northwest where I am pretty much the only Boyatt, and it would be great to be able to shed some light, but I guess that is why we are all here. Thanks!

the first Documented Boyt arrived in Nansemond County VA in the 1600's. I decend from Henderson Boyatt brother to Granville. DNA testing has linked us to the Boyet/Boyt etc. line

There is a separate Boyd DNA project that has been in existence since 2002. You will find it listed at Family Tree DNA in Texas. There is also a Boyd DNA list at Rootsweb if you'd like to discuss matches with Boyds.

The surname Boyd was not begun in Kentucky in the 1800s. It began in Scotland about 1,000 years ago. We are seeing that the surname Boyatt may be related to the Boyd name/family.

I would appreciate any information that you find on Jordon Boyatt, Granville Boyatt was my Great Grandfather, Elishja Boyatt was my Grandfather from the Onieda, Tenn area he was married to my Grandmother Barbara Foster Bell Boyatt. I know that Vera Boyatt of Knoxville Tenn. had done research in the family and go no further than Jordon Boyatt of French Lick In.

Ancestry. com says the Boyatts are from Germany and Vera said they came from France to South Hampton, England i would really like to know

My husband's side of our Family is Sanning and Boyatt. Raymond Boyatt son of William Boyatt and Mary Spradlin,I believe William had 11 sibling .On Raymond's death certificate it states he was born 5-10-1903 in Somerset Ky. his wife states in 1967 he was born 1902. He had a 2 brothers that i know of so far as Eli and Francis,Sisters Ethel, ADA M, Myrtle B..Raymond worked and retired from the railroad. Ada married a Routen. Any help would be appreciated.

Who was Peter King and Mahala Boyatt?You said they had three children.Who are they?I was looking at the McCreary Co. Cemeteries.The cemetery was Lower King Cemetery.Located in Barthell,McCreary Co. KY.It has this two people in it.

james columbus boyatt was my grandfather. his oldest daughter was my mother. he was married to martha jane foster and they had three daughters. nella margaret born mar.1,1922, another daughter jean, who died at age 8, and one living daughter, mary jo. margaret died jan.17,1985. she married lenford thomas smith and they had two daughters. virginia ann, born dec.23,1939 and sue carol, born jan.23,1943. james columbus was born in wayne county,ky. he died in stearns,(mc creary county) kentucky, on my 10th birthday, jan.23,1953. my sister and i spent every summer with my grandparents at their home in stearns. so i have very fond memories. my e-mail address is sch3111@aol.com sue hasty

Im the administrator for this board, thought it was time to get us all together in one place !
Those of us researching this family have found that most of our ancestors settled in the Cumberland...but where did they come from ?
Suprise ! We are probably English, with a long history in Hampshire..Eastleigh, Otterbourne and Southampton area...dating back to the time of the Domesday Book in 1066 !
The varient spellings of the name post date the Domesday entry. Boyd being one that was started in Kentucky in 1800's.
Hope you all can use this info.

Boyatt help needed

HELP ! My Boyatt family seems to have fallen through the cracks!
My Gram..Barbara Foster married one Elisha Boyatt bf 1910.
Her birthadte is 1879His is 1868.
Ive got tons of stuff on this, all conflicting. No records exist that we are aware of for Barbara and her siblings, and we know there were at least 6..he maiden name was Foster.
Records are so scrambled that we cant begin to sort this.
It seem these kids, Barbara and siblings, were sort of left to shift for themselves sometime shorty before or at the beginning of the Civil War.
We have the records back to Granville Boyatt, and so on, but this just doesnt add up...
The records we have show Charles Foster as her fater...but this cant be right...time line doesnt fit....

Barbara had sibling,according to our family records, they were:
Sarah Ann
Osaia
Pat
Ike
Luverene
And at least 2 who died early.
It is believed that the parents died of influnensa or some such, and these kids were left to fend for themselves.
If anyone has any information of any sort, PLEASE contact me.

Bussiness Creek (a place that the Big South Fork Nationional Park bought.)one of his son's Gorge Newton is my grandpaw',he is buried at Larel Ridge of the No Bussiness Creek,born 1876 died in 1941.Boyce Boyatt one of George's boy's is my dad,he died in Nov.of 1994.
