MAYETTA -- Edward Elmer
Bowhay, 48, Mayetta, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Bowhay worked for the U.S. Postal
Service in Topeka. he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War era.
He was born Aug. 3, 1953, at
Seneca, to Virgil Vincent and Theodora Catherine Kuckleman
Bowhay. He grew up in the
Seneca community and was a graduate of Nemaha Valley High School in 1972. He had lived in
Holton and Topeka before moving to Mayetta 18 years ago.
Mr. Bowhay was a member of St. Francis
Xavier Catholic Church, Mayetta, and the
Knights of
Columbus at the church. He also was a member of the International Association of Machinists.
He married Claudia Grace
Loethen on May 1, 1982, at Topeka. She survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Vincent Edward
Bowhay and Wayne Douglas
Bowhay, both of the home; a daughter,
Meredith Kathleen
Bowhay, of the home; four sisters, Mary
Boeckman and Betty
Olberding, both of
Seneca, Arminda
Feldkamp, Centralia, and Marge
Miller, Frankfort; and three brothers, Jack
Bowhay,
Kansas City, Mo., Robert
Bowhay,
Dubois, Neb., and James
Bowhay, Netawaka.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Dominic's Catholic Church,
Holton. Burial will be in Mount
Calvary Cemetery west of
Holton. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at
Mercer Funeral Home,
Holton. A
Knights of
Columbus rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by family visitation at the funeral home. Mr. Bowhay will lie in state after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.
