i am looking for any information on my grandfather,william "jock" bowan. in the british army in ww1. was a pow for some time.moved to australia after the war.i know he married jane in or around port douglas and they had at least 6 kids,my mother being 1 of them.any info on his life in england or scotland would be fantastic.

I am looking for parents of Dorothy Bowan, born 5 April 1897 in Indiana. She was 16 when she married Everett Henderson born in KY 1894,they were married 25 Oct 1913 in Marion County, IN. They had 2 sons, John Henderson who became aka, Jack Messer and William Henderson. William moved to Airzona when he became 18. This is my husbands family and I am trying to sort out this situation. Hi Jenny, just tried to send you an email...found an old email from 2002!!! I think I owe you some info on the Saunders line if you haven't got it already. My husband went to Marquete University...we have family on his side up North I think...they used to own bars or restaurants but I think they are all retired now. We are in NV now, near LV, weather is nice here.

Hi, I just talked to Ron Bowan he lives in Keshena, WI. I had left him a message, he called back. His father was George Sonny Bowan. He has a lot of information he can give you. He said he can go back 4 generations. He is an enrolled member of the Menominee Indian Tribe, he works for the boys and girls club there on the Reservation. I was looking for information on the Schultz Family for my children, I married a LaVerne M. Schultz, his family came from Germany. I believe his Grandfather was a William Schultz.

I am married to Jeff Bowan (Al's son). Here is some info that I have found.
John Franklin Bowan married Martha Schultz about 1898.
John was not born in Canada, he was born in Wisconsin 16 APR 1878 (probably Town of Richmond, Shawano Co) He appears on the census for 1880 as John F. age 2,but the spelling is Bowen (all of the children, dates etc match the Bowans before that)John died Shawano 1953, Martha died Shawano 1961.
John was the son of Joseph Bowan (born 6 SEP 1836 Canada, died 16 OCT 1899 Shawano, buried at Sacred Heart Cem.) and Angeline (name unknown yet?) born NY about 1849.
Joseph and Angeline had
Henry Joseph in 1864 Ogdensburg, NY
Alfred D. in 1868 listed as Ny and as Wis
Elizabeth in 1874 ? wis I guess
Anna in 1876 Wis
John Franklin 1878 Wis
There may have been more kids, but I haven't gotten any farther.
Joseph's parents were both born in Canada, that's all I coulf find. So far.

no i havent but i was told by 2nd cousins that our surname bowan is the right spelling. but, i will post up my names over on the bowen board just in case. thank you very much for the suggestion. begining to feel like they just fell out of the sky lol

Where in Tennessee was your Bowen/Bowan family? My 2nd gr-grandfather was Thomas Bowen, b 1799 NC/TN. married Rebecca Walkup 1821 in Rutherford Co, TN. Gr-grandfather, Thomas Bowen, b ca 1825 Rutherford Co, later in Coffee County before migrating to Missouri ca 1851, married Millie Level Brookshire. His brother, James Bowen, b ca 1822, in Gibson Co, TN after 1860.

James Bowan & Adalina (Alice) Bowan (Bannerman)

After some unsuccessful searches for Alice Bannerman, I may have come across my grandfathers paternal Mother, Adalina (Alice) Bowan.

Adalina was born in 1891 in Alford Aberdeen and lived in and around the Elgin area till 1911.

James was born Glasgow around 1888 and in the 1901 census was living in the Calford area of Glasgow

This couple lived in the area of Glasgow until Alice died in 1943.

Any information regarding this couple esp. Adalina (Alice) may help me know for sure if she is my Grandfathers mother.

Hi Heather! I am Esther Bowan's great-granddaughter. She later married a Sexton, I think your Utech might come from my last name, Utschig. Janet Fermanick is my grandmother--she married Reno Utschig and had 5 children, three of whom survived (my dad Steve, Julie, William). I saw that you had that she died of cancer in appleton--that was Esther. Janet died in 1994 of heart disease. Hope this helps on that end! Thanks for all the info you had posted... Sheet Music. I have sheet music dated 1934 with words by Mary E. Thompson whose maiden name was Bowen I believe. It is signed by her to Mrs. Grace (Staples) Hartshorn and I believe both these ladies were from Maine.

The "Bowan" tree is much more limited than the "Bowen" tree. Check your spelling as was suggested earlier.

Nancy Ann Bowan is my wife whom I married in 1955. My tree "Bowan" began in the USA in about 1880 with John Bowan who immigrated from the former Czechoslovakia. I am the first son of William who was John's youngest child. William was born in the US in 1906
