I am having no luck in searching the" Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church Records" for any entries pertaining to either one of this couple's baptisms. From their marriage entry, I know that SIMON BOURGEOIS was the son of PIERRE BOURGEOIS and MARIE MODESTE SAVOY. I found that LEONIZE BREAUX was the daughter of JOSEPH ARMAND BREAUX and CELESTE LANDRY.I can find baptismal entries on many, if not all, of their siblings, but for some reason can't find these two. In this couple's marriage entry, LEONIZE BREAUX was referred to as MARY LOUISE BREAUX, yet I can find no baptismal entry matching that name with the correct parents(JOSEPH ARMAND BREAUX and CELESTE LANDRY). Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you so much.

Hello. I have many descendants from this line in my database, who came to New Hampshiure and changed their name to BUSHWAY. Joseph Hosea or Hosia married twice. First family mostly stayed in Quebec, 2nd one became Bushway in NH. According to the 1881 Canadian Census there was an Olivier Bourgeois in Dorchester, Westmorland, New Brunswick married to an Henriette. The children listed are Phelomine, Vital, Marie, Maurice, Julienne, Damien.

I am very new at this so I hope someone can help me reseach my family tree. I have little to go on. My father is Felix Bourgeois Jr. My grandfather is/was? Felix Bourgeois and lived in Franklin La. I don't know if he was born there. He was married at least twice. Once to my grandmother Vera Antione from Algiers. They had two children, my father Felix Jr who was born December 16, 1928 and my aunt Clara Bourgeois. I know Felix Sr did have at least one other daughter by another marriage named Linda. Marguerite Cyr married Jean-Baptiste Bourgeois circa 1757. Marguerite was the daughter of Jean-Baptiste Cyr and Marguerite Cormier from Beaubassin, Acadia, NS. I think that J.-B died in L`Acadie, Québec.
Jean-Baptiste Bourgeois, born Jan. 7 1734 in Beaubassin, was the son of Claude Bourgeois and Anne-Marie Cormier. I have info that Anne-Marie died May 7, 1777 in St-Philippe de Laprairie, Québec. I do not know where Marguerite and Jean-Baptiste died. They had a son Michel born 1774 who married Françoise Ste-Antoine in l`Acadie in 1798, parents of Médord, father of Emma who married my ancestor Emile Regnier October 15 1885 in Illinois.

Everyone:

I am seeking contact with the descendants of Charles BOURGEOIS and Angela Dillion BOURGEOIS of New Orleans, La. Charles is one of the sons of Francis BOURGEOIS and Josephine Striker BOURGEOIS. Angela is one of the daughters of William and Angela DILLON.

Based on the 1930 census for New Orleans, La., I know that there were at least two daughters, Norma (born around 1922), and Helen (born around 1924). I do not know their married names and therefore have not yet been able to track them or their descendants down.

I just discovered an 8th G Grandmother but know nothing about her other than I think she was married to a Bourgeois [but who?] based on this following reference in a book by Glenn Conrad:
“Inventory of the Community Property of the Late Jacques Bourgeois and His Wife, Marianne Sauvage. Upon learning of the death of Jacques Bourgeois on the farm of Marianne Chevalier, Widow Bourgeois, his mother, Bellile goes to his house to take an inventory of the community property. The inventory is taken by Henri Beaufin and Louis Falgoust in the presence of Marianne Sauvage, wife of the decedent. Community property appraised at 1457 livres. Done in the presence of the above named individuals and Joseph Bourgeoise, brother of the decedent.”
So "his mother, Bellile, goes to his house" I assume means that the mother of Jacques Bourgeois was named Bellile.... now is that a first or a last name. Well there is a Bellile surname, so I'm assuming it's a surname. Jacques' father was obviously a Bourgeois, but what was his first name?
So, can anyone help with this?

I am trying to locate any info on a Louis D. Bourgeois b: 30, April 1914 in Trinidad and Tobago, d: 30, Nov. 1992 in Bethesda, Montgomery Co., Maryland. HIs wife is still living, but I need info on his parents, brothers and sisters if at all possible. Where would I find info from Trinidad and Tobago? This line has got me confused, and at a brick wall. His death certificate didn't show what I was looking for. Any ideas, hints or places I should look ??? Thank you in advance for any help or info.

I was adopted in Texas in the early 1960's. My birth name was Bourgois. I have a brother too, he also is a Bourgois.
I do not know what happened to my parents. We think my father's name is Walter Bourgois. I was a Jr. We think my mother's first name is B. Jewel. All we know for sure is that we are Bourgois. Joseph Bourgeois on Tuesday, May 6, 1975, at 7:15 o'clock. a/m. Beloved husband of Amelia Hosch. Father of Joseph Jr. and Lester Bourgeois, and Mrs. Florieta Karney of Baton Rouge, La. Brother of George Bourgeois and the late Frank, Edward, Charles Bourgeois, Mrs. Ada Sullwald, Mrs. Mamie McGoey, Mrs. Margarette Feldman and Mrs. Hazel Bordenave. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Age 76 years. A native of New Orleans, La. Relatives and friends of the family also employees of Winn Dixie Food Store, are invited to attend the funeral. Services from the funeral home of Jacob Schoen and Son, Inc., 527 Elysian Fields Ave., on Thursday May 8 1975 at 2 o'clock p.m. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Feb. 27, 1939 in Kalamazoo, Mi. Had 10 children: Arthur, Paul, Emma, Rose, Edna, Margaret, Florence, Phillip, Edward. Immigrated after 1880 to Menominee, Mi. then to Kazoo. On Frank's deather certificate it lists his father as Francis Bourgois, mother unknown. Did find that he had a brother Felix (Felician) b. April 1859 living with him in 1900 census.

Frederick M. Raggett, Jr., died April 2, 2005 of lung cancer in Phoenix, AZ. He was born February 9, 1924 in New Orleans, LA to Frederick M. Raggett, Sr. and Mabel Eunice Raggett (Bourgeois).

During WW II, he served over 4 years in the U. S. Navy where he participated in 5 major campaigns in the Pacific. He moved to AZ in 1974 from Jacksonville, FL. He was a graduate of Robt. E. Lee Senior High and educated at the Univ. of Florida. He was a retired executive with a major hotel chain.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Grace Raggett; daughter, Kathy Good (David) and three grandchildren, Brian, Heather and Michaela.

Arrangements by Hansen Mortuary.

Mrs. Bourgeois attended the Lowell Schools and was a communicant of Ste. Jeanne D'Arc Church and a member of The Gold Star Mothers.

Wife of the late Aidemard Bourgeois, she is survived by one daufhter, Mrs. Victor (Theresa) Lepine of Lowell; three grandsons, Denis Lepine of Lowell, Ray Lepine of Nashua, N.H., and Richard Lepine of sandown, N.H.; also three great-grandchildren.

Just started looking into my family tree. I have very little information and I would appreciate any help I can receive. My grandfather's name was Alderic Bourgeois (Bouctouche NB) he married Madeline (LeBlanc?) and had 3 sons, Gerald, Lionel (my father), Alfred. I believe my grandfather's father's name was Laurent or Lawrence. Although my grandfather was from Bouctouche, I do know that somewhere along the line my family migrated from Grand-Digue.

My name is Jeffrey COUROULEAU.

I am researching my BOURGEOIS line in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have been definitively able to get as far back as Francis BOURGEOIS and Josephine STRIKER, who are my maternal great-great grandparents. Francis was a policeman in the City Of New Orleans until his death in 1924. But I would like to go further.

Francis BOURGEOIS' parents (my great-great-great grandparents), based on an obituary I have recently obtained, seem to be Francis BOURGEOIS and Bridget DONLEY (d. 11/30/1904). Bridget is listed as a widow in her obituary, and the one reference I can find to the family in census records (1880 in the city of New Orleans, Bridget, with sons John and Francis), indicate that she was also widowed then.

Therefore... I am fairly sure that Francis BOURGEOIS and Bridget DONLEY are my great-great-great grandparents. But I would like to continue going further back on the male BOURGEOIS side, as well as get any additional information about any members of my direct line. If the census records of Francis' son Francis (my great-great-grandfather) are to be trusted, his father Francis was born in France. His mother, Bridget, was born in West Main, Ireland.

Can anyone shed light on the French origins of Francis, or the Irish origins of Bridget Donley Bourgeois? Are there any descendants of John Bourgeois (Francis and Bridget's son / my great-great-grandfather's brother) who would like to correspond and share information? Or anyone with information on other members of my direct line?

Bourgeois = Bushwa

I have seen that the name Bushaw is sometimes used instead of Bourgeois or Bushway. There is a line of Bushway families that originated in New Brunswick and moved to New Hampshire and Vermont. This was the New England prononciation I guess of the Bourgeois name. I also know that I was called Bushwa when I was in high school. I have not seen many uses of the name of Bushaw in the acadian work that I am doing on the Bourgeois family tree. Let me know what you find out. Maybe we could share data if you turn out to be in the Bourgeois line.

PERU — Elaine H. Bourgeois, 72, of McIntosh Street, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Alburg, Vt., March 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Carol and Ellen (Surprise) Searles.

Elaine graduated from Alburg High School in 1947. She married LeoPaul C. Bourgeois, Aug. 25, 1951 in Alburg.

She was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Peru, and summer member of St. Anne’s Shrine in Isle LaMotte, and a member of the Peru Senior Citizens Center. She volunteered in all aspects of Peru, and Alburg. She enjoyed indoor flowers and cooking.

Survivors include her husband, LeoPaul, of Peru; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gary Wheelock of Colchester, Vt.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas A. and Jane Bourgeois of Rutland, Vt., Timothy Paul and Kay Bourgeois of Winooski, Vt., and Christopher and Vanessa Bourgeois of Bloomingdale; one sister and brother-in-law, Glennis and Carl Mumley of Vermont; six grandchildren, Sara and Kyle, Lydia and Lindsey and Jason and Danielle; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lester E. Thew Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru, with the Rev. Wendell Searles, Elaine’s brother, celebrating and the Rev. Francis White, of St. Philip Neri Church in Westport and the Rev. William Reamer, chaplain at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

So while I had some free time waiting for my ride with my spare keys, I decided to start writing information on some gravestones while I was there. I came across one for BOURGEOIS. MARTHA BOURGEOIS-HÉTU (1929-2003) died in Lanoraie, QC on February 13, 2003 at the age of 73 years. She was the wife of defunct JEAN-PAUL HÉTU. She leaves behind her nieces: Céline (Jean Sasseville), Jocelyne (Denis Girard)& her grandchildren: Éric & Pierre-Luc. She is also mourned by her brothers & sisters: Paulette, Étienne (Huguette), Thérèse (Réal), Léo and by her brothers & sisters-in law, by her nephews, nieces and many friends. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 18th at 11:00AM in the parish church of Lanorae. The family will be available as of 10:00AM at the church.
