Have you ever searched by keyword through old posts on a message board and happily struck gold by finding names or dates related to your ancestors? You quickly send an email to that poster's listed address only to discover their "addy" has long changed. You then return to the message board and post a response, hoping that person will soon read the board. You wait.

And wait.

Perhaps your reply goes unnoticed. Someone else might know the person and alert them to your post. You may or may not ever connect.

When and if you change your email address, please let Rootsweb/Ancestry know so that they can update any message board posts you've made over the years. See the topic: MESSAGE BOARD POSTINGS at this link

http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/addresses/

An excerpt from that page:

"Changing your e-mail address is accomplished in one easy step for registered users. Click on the "'My Profile" link, which is accessible after logging in. Complete any changes in the "Change Profile" or "Change Password" boxes and click on "Submit." Your account information is changed universally on every post associated with this account/e-mail address. You will need to repeat this process for every registered address."

Registration to the message boards is free on both Ancestry.com and Rootsweb.com and on the other popular website ALSO owned by the same company:

Want to receive all BOULET board posts by email rather than have to check this board for updates? Register (for free) and click on the "ADD BOARD TO NOTIFICATIONS" link at the top of this screen.
