I began my research on "John Milo" a.k.a. Theophile Milot over 13 years ago, who was my GG Grandfather. I am from his line and his third (or legal first) wife Mary Ploof (Plouffe) whom he married in Vermont in 1844. I know about his first "wife" Mary Muchan (Marchand?) and then Delia Busha (Boucher?) and the children he had with those two women. I believe My GG Grandmother Mary Ploof helped to raise the children he had with the other women. However, on his marriage record to Mary Ploof in 1844, it stated that this particular marriage to her was the first marriage for the both of them. I doubt that was true, if he was indeed born between 1808 and 1818, but Mary Ploof may have been the first woman he married over the States border, and that is why they said the marriage was his first, or, he may have not divorced his other wives, or, couldn't show proof of their deaths, etc. In any case, John's real name was Theophile, and the surname looks to be Milot/Millot/Milotte. One of the mystery's is how "John" had a daughter with Delia Busha (Boucher) in 1851 that they named Mary, while he had been married to Mary Ploof (Plouffe) since 1844. I believe John/Theophile was married to Mary Muchan (Marchand) or had a child with her (John L., Jr. born in 1843) and something may have happened to her. So I believe that is when he married Mary Ploof (Plouffe) to help him raise his son, just 6 months later! I believe Mary Ploof (Plouffe) was very young and I believe John/Theophile was on the move a lot, perhaps even still going back and forth from Canada to Vermont and vice versa, at that time, thus having a child with Delia Busha (Boucher) in 1851. There is a good chance that Delia didn't even know that John was married to Mary Ploof (Plouffe) when she, Delia gave birth to Mary. Not sure about that one. Theophile/John Milo had two children that I know of with my GG Grandmother Mary Ploof (Plouffe), namely Charles (my G Grandfather) and Celina. All of the half siblings, children of John's, grew up extremely close to one another...John, Jr., Mary, Charles and Celina.
