Jacquie:
Some information on Marin's home and church - VILLAGE OF SAINT-LANGIS-LÈS-MORTAGNE.
Marin Boucher was a mason from Mortagne. Marin Boucher married Julienne Baril at the Saint-Jean parish church in Mortagne
The ancestral house of the family in Saint-Langis: La Barre consists today of one long house, called a "longère", which is a series of three adjacent houses. The name La Barre comes from the old owner Mr. BARRE, the great grand father of Julienne Baril, the first wife of Marin Boucher.
The CHURCH of SAINT-LANGIS was built in 1595 to replace the original church, burnt down during the War of Religions (1572 to 1592). It is possible that Marin Boucher, native of neighbouring Mortagne, might have participated in the construction as a mason. This may explain how he met his first wife, a native of Saint-Langis.
I have photos (and a map) that I can e-mail to you of the house and church (I have been researching my wife's ancestors - the Bouchers for over a year now). Write to me at kenzabel at sbcglobal.net
