What I have heard is that they were very poor in England and
wanted a better life. General Pilkington, who owned the township of Pilkington, Ont. encouraged people from Aynho to
come there. The Cartwright family who owned most of the village of Aynho, helped several of it's families to immigrate
to Ontario.
