Looking for any info regarding Edison Joseph Bordelon, Sr, son of Abel Bordelon and ? Laborde. Was married to Elda Daigrepont and had a son Edison Jr.

I've found an Edison Joseph Bordelon Sr and Jr, but the info doesn't match up, and the son is listed as deceased in 1941, which is not the case for the one I'm looking for.

Edison Jr had brothers Owen Bordelon, Gayle Bordelon, and Walter Laborde (half brother).

Any info would get me past a big roadblock.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

1st Sgt. Michael J. Bordelon, 37, of Morgan City, La., died May 10 at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, from injuries sustained April 23 in Mosul, Iraq, when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his Stryker military vehicle. Bordelon was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.

I am trying to find information about my great-grandfather Crescent Bordelon of Avoyelles Parish, LA. He was married to Adolphenia Honorine Couvillion. One of their sons was my grandfather, but I am unclear of the correct spelling of his name. My family spells it Pelisicca or Pilisicia. Pilisicia was born in March 1870 and died on March 11, 1935. Frances LaChance seems to show the same person spelled Bericia. Please provide me with any information about Crescent Bordelon or his son Pelisicca (or Bericia.)

I am trying to track down the will and succession of Marcelin Bordelon of Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. I understand there were two, one born in 1820 and the other born in 1838. I'm not sure which is the one I'm looking for, but I am sure that the one I am looking for was alive in 1857. I see that the Mormon Family history library has microfilmed the successions between 1855 and 1887, and there is supposed to be an index to that film, but it's not clear where the index is and I'd rather not have to pay to borrow all 7 reels. Can anyone help? Does anyone know where the index is? The Avoyelles parish clerk of court had no idea what I was talking about--apparently they only work with originals, and they won't help me unless I know the date of death.

Douglas Hayes was the son of Benonia Ory Hayes and Annette Elizabeth "Lizzie" Barker. Lizzie was the daughter of Ben Barker and Lucence Ferguson. All of Marksville, Avoyelles Pa., Louisiana.

According to Sybil Gaspard, who married Douglas Hayes (see above) in Avoyelles Parish, her father was Florence Gaspard and her mother was Nita Sarah Sayes.

Her paternal grandfather and grandmother were Lawrence Gaspard and Ida Morace. Her maternal grandfather and grandmother were Felix Sayes and Rosa Bordelon. All of Avoyelles Parish.

Nita Sayes was born November 11, 1891 and died in August 1967 at Marksville, Avoyelles Parish, LA. The dates for her husband, Florence Gaspard, should be similar - I do not have those.

Sybil Gaspard was born April 29, 1928 and has five siblings: 1) Addie Gaspard marr. Mitchell Lachney 2) Mary Gaspard marr. Elphise Lachney 3) Daisy Gaspard marr. Edwise Bernard 4) Nora Gaspard marr. Herse Dauzat 5) Winston Gaspard marr. BettyBORDELON

Six children in all, counting Sybil. Sybil is my sister's mother-in-law (Viola Cirilo Hayes <viola@cirilo.net>). Sybil is our source for her parents, grandparents and siblings. We are trying to document all.

I am trying to get a death date for my Great Grandfather, Eraste P. Bordelon, his spouse was Emily Moreau. The story goes that when I was born, they took me home and he held me then told my mother I was too heavy and he died a short time later...that would put his death in 1958, I am suspecting in April but am not sure. He was from Marksville, LA and is buried in Saint Joseph's cemetary #1, any help in establishing his death date would be appreciated.

Dear Cousin!

You have to understand, all Mothers named at least one daughter after themselves. Also a daughter was named after both grandmothers. Alot of Marianne's, Marie Ann's, etc.

You may be related to the MarieAnn, daughter of Pierre, Bordelon, who's father was Antoine Bordelon, wife Adelaide.

But your dates are wrong. Joseph Roy, married (No marriage certificate could be found) Marie Ann Bordelon around 1798? She died in 1836! If I remember correctly she was 13 years old. The youngest grandmother I found was 12! They married VERY young. Shocked me, but, their lives were short, and marrying that young was nothing out of the ordinary in the late 1700's, plus white women was scarce. Did find her last will in Marksville, naming her then husband at time of death as Joseph Roy, he did go on to remarry. Think you have her daughter confusing you?

I have seen that Appolinaire Bordelon had many children, could I have a listing of the 19 children? I have not seen a full listing. I believe my husband's great grandfather may be of this line. I saw a picture of Appolinaire, and he is the spitting image of my husband's dad.

My husband's great grand parents were Nestor Martin Bordelon and Estelle Whitmore (Plaucheville and Bunkie, LA), Grand Parents were Appolinaire Acebadie Bordelon and Gladys Lucas( Simmesport).

I have a Bordelon by the name of Appolinaire, who is interred in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Ville Platte, LA. I am not certain if this is the one in which Mark is interested, though, I am sure there cannot be that many Appolinaire Bordelons.

Tracing slave ancestors is almost impossible with out the help of the descendants of those our folks served. Though slavery is a difficult issue for all of us to look at---it happened, and needs to be examined and understood. African American records previous to the Civil War, are usually found "in" slave owners documents, wills, deeds, persoanl papers, letters,conveyance records. Please help us to connect with our ancestors, by pulling out names of blacks that you find. You can submitt any information to Afrigeneas.com--or you can make the information available to descendants, if you know them. Not only do wills and other conveyances often names slaves, but it also offers us a look at the slave owner family relationships---who married who, or who died and was the parent of whom. We have to understand your marriages and deaths to track the movement of our folks, please help. My personal quest is locating slave inventories of Leandre/Landry Bordelon who lived at Long Bridge, and any "gifts' he may have come by at deaths of his own or wife's marriage.

I am trying to do a family tree on the Bordelon side. My ggg/grandmother was Philomene Bordelon who married Remi Voinche in Avoyelles Parish. The children they had that I know of are, Frances(my gg/grandmother) Morris, Remy Jr. Rita, and Hilda. As for as I know they always lived in Marksville. Does anyone have anything that could help me? I'm looking for information on a Margeurite Bordelon that married Joseph Guillot in 1860. They had 2 children, daughter Celestine and a son, mother died when they were very young. Joseph re-married a woman named Marceline.
I think Margeurite might have been married before Joseph. The only record I can find is a marrige record calling her "Mrs." Margeurite Bordelon. Any information would be welcomed.
