I'm replying to my own post with hope that this may help someone else.

While searching "Descendants of Gregory Bonnifield (1726-1794)" on ancestry.com, I found that Mattie May Bonnifield b 1874 was the daughter of Samuel Jackson Bonifield b 1843 and "Biddy Tidwilliger" b abt 1852.

I found Samuel Jackson Bonnifield and his wife Isabel (assuming Biddy is short for Isabel) in the 1870 Masaac Co Ill census. I then found Isabella with two Bonnifield children Charles M Bonnifield and Mattie E (should have been M) Bonnifield in the 1880 Mississippi Co MO census. Isabel had remarried to an Anderson at this point as Samuel Jackson Bonnifield died abt 1879. I still have not found anything else on "Biddy Tidwilliger" who shows up as Isabel and Isabella on the census.

I think that "Tidwilliger" is likely a transcription error. By exhaustively searching the 1860 Masaac Co Ill census, I found a family with the last name of "Teremiliger", but there were no children named Biddy, Isabel, or Isabella.

Does anyone know anything else on Isabella (Biddy) Tidwilliger?

Mattie Bonifield

I'm looking for any information on Mattie Bonifield born March 1874 in Illinois. She married Charles W Holland on Oct 12 1892. In 1899, Charles W Holland was accidentally killed while moving a house. Mattie M. Bonnifield appears in the 1900 Richland, Scott Co Missouri census at the age of 26 living with her deceased husband's parents William M Holland and Suzannah Harshaw.

Mattie Bonnifield and Charles Holland had at least 1 child - James Madison Holland born Dec 1895 in Missouri.

I would really appreciate any information.

I made a mistake in names,found my paper work on the Myers. Chaps brother and sisters were William Carroll, Jessie and Bessie(Twins) and Freda. His father was Henry Myers b. 1868. He married Jennifer Jones. Died before 1900. HIs parents were John and Mary Myers. His siblings were Tom, Chapel(Chap) Charles and Lawrance, sisters Minnie ,she married a Cox and Julie, she married a Smotherman.

Chap Myers was the brother of my great grandfather Henry Myers. He had another brother William Carroll. A sister Minnie who married a Cox. and another sister whose name I cannot recall just at the moment.I have been in touch with Chaps daughter who lives in Sikeston, Missouri. Her name is Loretta Henley. She didnt have much inforation on the Myers either. My grandmother was Jessie Myers who married George Redman.

My grandmother had a book about the three Bonafonte i.e.
Bonifield brothers who were immigrants to Charleston S.C.
in the 18th century, Gregory being one of them. Wish I* had a copy of the book from the Library of Congress.

I was at a flea market yesterday and included in my purchase of old doilies and hankies, I found at the bottom of an old trunk, a small book simply called Bonnifield that was published in 1918 and is the family tree of Gregory Bonnifield, born 1726 and at some time lived in Maryland. The family tree goes thru about 1912. I am not in this family, but if someone is and would like this, I will gladly send it to you.

Has anyone ever heard of this connection? I hadn't until recently and it has sparked an interest/curiosity. I was sent an old, old photo of the James gang and it on the back it was addressed to ?? Bonifield from "Jesse James III". The handwriting was so faded that I could barely make out what I did. Has anyone ever heard of this? Any thoughts or ideas about this theory will be greatly appreciated.

That must be a different family.

I have copies of some of the pages of a book called, "Descendants of Gregory BONNIFIELD (1726-1794)" compiled by C. J. Maxwell of Dallas TX in 1923. This book is also at the Library of Congress. (It is being updated as we speak by a relative of the original compiler's.)

"My" Gregory was believed to have been born in MD. His family later moved to VA. I descend from his daughter, Rachel BONNIFIELD, who married Matthew MADDOX. They are buried in Wood Co (W)VA.

Looking for info on the BONIFIELD family they imagrated from france to scottland to ireland and possibly to england.
