If so, please contact me at: gbrb86@bak.rr.com.
My great grandmother, Gertrude von Ruden, was a German Catholic. When she married my great grandfather, Viktor Bonas/Bonaski/Bonasky, he was a Polish Jew who converted to Catholicism and dropped the ki/ky from the name to eliminate the persecution from being Jewish.

Hi Shirley, yes, it is I! I had just tried to send you an email, but it wouldn't go out on my server. Then I saw that there were several responses already here. I'm shocked since the last update on this thread was so long ago. Sylvie has sent me a few pictures, but if you have more, I would really love them. I have a few from Uncle Vinny, but that's about it. Also, I would love Patie's email address. I had her phone number quite a while ago, but have lost it over the years. I would also love any ancestry info you may have. I don't have anything past our grandparents...My email addresss is skibbs@comcast.net.

Hi Mary,
I remember your mother well. She was a lot of fun. I met you at Aunt Margaret and Uncle Art's home. My dad, Camille, was one of Rose and Matt's sons. We lived in San Gabriel until 1964 and then moved to Sherman Oaks. Both of my parents have passed on, my mother, Charlotte, in 1999 and my dad in 1990. Lots of kids in your family. I think I have either a photo or movie of Eddie and Mary holding you on a couch when you were an infant.
I live in Ashland, Oregon. I noticed that a Shelly Bonas lives in a neighboring town about 3 miles from me. Does anyone know if she is related?
I've had Aunt Margaret on my mind for a while. She was always one of my favorites. I saw her a few years ago at Rita's house in Folsom for Thanksgiving. I heard that Rita is struggling with a recurrence of breast cancer.
I would also love to see any photos. Shirley was awesome and sent a ton of photos to me by email, but I lost them when my computer crashed shortly thereafter.
Would love to hear from you all.
Patie Millen 541-301-3435

I am curious about my genology and un-known relatives bearing the last name "Bonas," which, to my knowledge, is un-common.

Do you have any sources? My father's name was Gary also. His father's name was Sylvester and his mother's name was Alain. I do not know much about my father's parents at all - zero in fact - and I do not understand why.

My father had 4 sisters - Dianne, who lived in Hawaii, but passed away, Gail, Sylvie .... We just weren't in touch with that side of the family at all.

Thank you.

Hello Shirley,
I am Mary Therese Williams nicknamed Terry and am the granddaughter of William Bonas, the youngest child of Victor and Gertrude Von Ruden Bonas. My mother Mary Gertrude Bonas married Edward Tamulinas and they had 8 children of which I am the oldest. Our Tamulinas last name was legally changed to Terry in the 1950's as my dad had used the name for business, making me Terry Terry which I hated. The nuns would never call me Terry so to all except the family I am called Mary. My mother is still living and will be 90 yrs in November. I am sure that sometime I did meet Great Uncle Matt, your grandpa. Our Terry family grew up in Los Angeles and my Grandpa Bonas and most of the family lived in San Gabriel. I do recognize the names of your family we may have been at my Uncle Art and Aunt Margaret Bonas' house together. Being kids we just played with our cousins and ignored the adults of course. I would like to know more about your family and see the pictures too. I know my mom would enjoy them too.
Terry Williams

Hi Deborah, Charles Joseph was my Great Grandfather. One of his 9 children was Greggory J Bonas who was my Grandfather. He married Mary Jane Ariey and they had five children, all in Bakersfield. I'm 25 and always wondered about the Bonas side of my family, no one seemed to know anything. I really liked the story about Anton (Tony) Bonas joining the circus. I would like to learn more, it's so interesting. Do you have any other interesting stories?

Hi Debi, we haven't emailed in so long. I'll find you on FB. Is this Gail Bonas? Sylvester & Alain's daughter? I keep running across family pix, I'll have to start scanning again. Some, I'm sure Gail would want.
Hi Terry,
How nice to hear from you. Yes, I remember relatives in San Gabriel. I was so little that I never knew who was who, other than Uncle Bill, cause all the Bonas brothers looked alike, even to a kid. You can get my email address on my website lindseyfarms.com, then we can exchange pictures and chat more. I have lots of old pics, that I inherited when my parents passed away.
Shirley Lindsey

My grandfather was Leo Bonas. One of 5 sons born to Matthew and Rose Bonas. He died on December 25, 1996. I am not sure when Matthew died, but I may be able to find out from my dad, Richard Bonas. Rose Maddock Bonas died in 1976 and her son Vincent died in 1977. Sylvie and Camille died some time after Vinny but before Leo. My grandp was the last to die of the 5 boys. There was another son named Matthew that died young. hope this helps. My name is Dana.

Hi Deborah,

You and I exchanged emails a couple of years back. Rose is Leo's mother. I was talking to my dad today and while on the phone with him googled Leo Bonas. I came across a message board where someone was asking when these 5 brothers were born and when they died so I replied. If you have any photos I would love to have them. My computer crashed and if I had any they are gone. Have a great New Year.

Dana

Hi Terry (and Joyce, Shirley and Patie)

This is Deborah Bonas Kearney, daughter of Harry Bonas, granddaughter of Charles Andrew Bonas, who was a son of Victor and Gertrude. It's nice to "see" Terry, Joyce and Patie again. And Shirley, after all the communicating we've done, we realy need to meet someday. It's odd we haven't, since are dads were not only cousins, but best friends. I think so much about the days at Art and Margaret's in San Marino and Carlsbad and also of the Mary and Ed Terry gatherings in Downey. I miss those days. As an only child, that was what family meant to me.

Bill and Anna had no biological children, but Bill had four with his first wife, Longina. Before Longina's passing, Anna was their live in employee who migrated from Saskatchewan to Los Angeles with them.

I've been communicating with your Aunt Shirley for quite a while and she has access to my tree. I have all the vital information on Leo, his brothers and his sister Rose. Leo's father was my grandfather's brother. I also have many photos, some of which I got from Shirley. I met your father once when we were going to the same college. We grew up within a few miles of each other, but never had met.

She is buried in the cemetery in Muenster, Sask. near my grandmother Rose Rath Bonas. There are so many Roses in the Bonas family. Happy new year!

Charles Joseph's parents were Anton (Tony) and Eleanor (Nell) Elston Bonas.. Tony was from Saskatchewan via North Dakota and he met Nell in England while traveling with the Barnum and Bailey Circus. Tony and Nell were Godparents to my father. Charles Joseph was their only child. They had adopted one child in 1911 (Alfred) who died in infancy. There has been some questions regarding Charles' paternity. It has been questioned whether Nell already had Charles when she met Tony. However, Charles and Joseph are the names of two brothers that Tony was close to. The older Charles was my grandfather and Joseph my great uncle who raise my dad and his siblings. I have a good photo of Tony and Nell. It's my understanding that their descendants eventually settled in Bakersfield.

Hello Deborah,
I am part of the Bonas clan who eventually settled in Bakersfield. My Father was the namesake and oldest child of Charles Joseph Bonas and his wife Marie. He was the eldest of nine. His name was Charles Edward Bonas. Only two of the siblings of Charles senior are still living. Both in Bakersfield but with many, many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I would love to have the history that you have compiled as my father passed when I was still quite young. Many in the family have lost touch and I would love to share any stories you may have or help you in any way possible. I am jumping on the band wagon way late but happy that I stumbled upon your posts. :) email pookiemom100@yahoo.com
