I would probably have some information for you. My grandma is a Bolich and I do know some of my family history. Nine generations back my family originated from Abraham Snethen and Elizabeth Stewart who were both born in Germany around 1780 and relocated to New Jersey. If this sounds like your family line...let me know and I can help you out with more information.

There is also a copy of the book at the Berks County Historical Society. That is were I got my copy. I also have a family tree of Bolichs from getting off the boat in 1753 until the late 20th century if anyone is interested.

Any and all Bolich - Boalich members.
Some of the posted messages are years old and I am unable to contact those people.
Johan George is my family. It is said that his brothers came to the U.S. before he did and a cousin. I have family who speak and read German who are assisting me in this venture. Please let me know if you can share info with me.
Thanks

Bolich - NEW INFO & PHOTOs !

First thing... If you need anything in GERMAN translated let me know! My husband and his uncle are from GERMANY. He has family living there helping us research the Bolich tree.

Second.... I have photos lots of them from the 1800's. I will have them posted ASAP. If you want to see them faster send me mail. Put BOLICH in the subject area. I have loads of info and am currently working with a cousin on getting it all together. Please let me know if you want to share info with us or vise versa. I am considering putting it in BOOK form since there is so much info. I am well past 550 pages so far. I am listing my family tree as fast as I can get the correct info typed. I "think" I may have it back 2 generations in Germany(even if it may be modern day Holland). Not positive yet. Feel free to have a look.

Bolichs in Nebraska

I am seeking information on the family of William Henry Bolich of Wisner, Cuming County, Nebraska. I know he was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and died in 1932 in Wisner. He married Lila Hubler and had 7 children - Charlie, Daniel, Edith, Eva, Roy, Elmer, and Fern. He ran a tire shop. His son, Charlie, took over the shop after his death.

I know there were many Bolichs in Brown, Nebraska, but I don't know if they are related. Also, I can't determine William's parents' names. They were supposed to have settled in Minnesota. Any information you might have would be appreciated.

I have a Thomas Bolich born about 1857 married to Dora (Simler) born about 1857. Living in Phillipsburg, Centre, Pennsylvania. I'm looking for information on Howard Simler born about 1867 (he was Dora's brother). His daughter was Ariel, she was married to Raymond Maurer. I'm researching the Maurer family. Any information would be appreciated.

This is the Thomas Bolich I inquired about. I have his wife Dora's maiden name as Simler. Dora's parents were William Simler born abt. 1830 and died before 1880. Mother Eliza Matley born abt. 1836. Their three children, Dora born abt. 1857, Howard born about 1867, Charles born abt. 1870. Eliza's second marriage was to William Jeffries. I have no other information on the Bolich family or the Jeffries family. Howard married Jennie Askey their daughter born 9/19/1890 married Raymond Maurer. I'm researching the Maurer family, along with a few other families in the Clearfield County area.

Text taken from THE BOLICH FAMILY IN AMERICA by Mary Margaret Bolich, published 1939, Allentown PA.

"It is related by the descendants of Andreas Balch that the home of the three brothers who came to America had been in Germany hear Alsace; their father was German, their mother French."

However, the world "Bolig" is not a german world. It is , however, a Norwegian word, meaning HOME. My guess is that while they may have been German for a generation or two, the family most likely originated from Norway.

I believe the book is entitled THE BOLICH FAMILY IN AMERICA with Genealogies by Mary Margaret Bolich. publiched 1939 by Schlechter's Printers/Publishers, Allentown, PA. I found a copy of it at the Schwenkfelter Library in Red Hill PA. I think there is also one at the Pennsylvania Historical Society in Philadelphia. There might also be one at the Montgomery County Historical Society in Norristown PA, but I'm not certain of that one.

An Elisabeth Bolig was baptised at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Montgomery County PA. I'll ask my cousin if she knows her parents and who she married. She was confirmed in the Goshenhopen Church in the spring of 1840. (Also Montg. County, PA.) (Not sure if that is Frederick or Milford township.)

We found alot of Bolig information in Montg. County Historical Society, Norristown PA, and also in the Schwenkfelter Library in Red Hills, Montg. County.

Hoping for help with our brick wall. Henry William BICKEL [b. 1820 PA-d. 1857 PA] married Elizabeth [b.c.1822] before 1843. We are presumming that Elizabeth's maiden name was BOLICH [etc.] for the following reasons.
1850 census, Barry Twp., Schuylkill Co., PA: Henry W. BICKEL age 29, wife Elizabeth age 28, & their three children were living with Samuel BOLIG age 24, Elizabeth BOLIG age 67, & Catherine WEARY age 16.
1870 census, Butler Twp., P.O. Ashland, Schuylkill Co., PA: Elizabeth BICKEL & her children, & living with them Elizabeth BOLICK age 89. When Henry William BICKEL died, Samuel BOLICH was administrator of his estate. This is the reasons we are presumming that Elizabeth, the wife of Henry William BICKEL, may have had the maiden name BOLICH/BOLICK/BOLIG.
Any information will be helpful. Will share our info.

Dear Sherri:

I would like to exchange information with you regarding the
emigrant Johan Georg Bolich.

I have partial record of Margaret Bolig's Book about the
Boligs, and I need to know if Frederick Bolig was listed in
her data as one of the children of Johan Georg. The children
were all born in Montgomery Co., Pa. I have the birth date of
Frederick as Dec. l7, l77l but lost my source for wheverever
I got that date. If it indeed was the Church records of Montgomery Co., then it establishes him as a son of Johan.
This Frederick died in Snyder Co., Pa., and I have extensive
information on him from that point. Thanks-- Louise
