I have been reviewing one of my lines extending back from Susannah Blakeney who married into the Laney family. I just noticed that I have Susannah Blakeney b. 1789 < Nancy May b. 1769 (husband John Blakeney Jr.) < Mary Boggan b. 1763 (husband John Joseph May) < Mary Dabbs b. 1743 (husband Patrick Henry Boggan). This line of ancestry seems to be agreed on in many sources, although there is no great amount of documentation that I can find. I also have DNA matches with other descendants of Mary Dabbs and Patrick Henry Boggan.
But if Mary Boggan was born in 1763, she couldn't possibly have had a daughter in 1769...she'd only be 6 years old! And if we assume that we have either Mary Boggan's date of birth wrong or Nancy May's date of birth wrong and adjust either one so that it makes sense, then it creates an impossibility with either Susannah Blakeney or Mary Dabbs! Yet no one else seems to have noticed this problem with the dates
I would really love to hear from anyone who has insights or ideas about this problem. I'll post this on the Blakeney, May, Boggan and Dabbs boards in hopes of hearing some ideas.
