I am searching for any information about William or Mary Boa, of Edinburgh Scotland. Dates of birth are unknow, but would be mid 1800's. One of their children was Janet Kathleen Boa, born 1891. I believe he was a barrister.

My name is Stewart Boa, I live in Florida and may be able to help you in your search for some possible answers.
My family originally came from Scotland. My family as I know it came from Roxburghshire, Scotland. The orig. BOA, as we know it at this point in time, was Andrew BOA born in 1761 and died 6 Aug. 1829 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His wife Agnes SMAILS, born 1760 in Roxburghshire, Scotland, died 20 March 1827 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
They had (9) children, Peter BOA (1786- ?),Ann BOA (1788-1838), Robert BOA (1790-1860), Andrew BOA (1794-1858) he is my great, great, great Grandfather, Janet BOA (1796-1857), William BOA (1800-1878), Margaret BOA (1802-1820), John BOA (1804- ?) and Agnes BOA (1806- ?).
All of the children, except Peter who stayed in Scotland, including the parents moved to Canada lived in and around the Montreal area.
The BOA'S you are interested in could be part of the same family of BOA'S but I would like some more info. if possible from you.
I would be willing to talk with you if you like.
Please submit an answer through e-mail to me.
In my search I wasn't able to find a Mary BOA and any info. on Janet Kathleen BOA born 1891.
Where did your original family settle after they left Scotland ?
Where do you live. Did any of your family live in Canada ?

That's it for now please contact me on the BOA Surname Message Board.

My maternal grandfather was John Simpson Boa who was born in southern Quebec or upstate New York. He was born around 1880 and died at the age of 26, or so I am told. He had at least one brother;Andrew who farmed in Lachute Quebec Canada. The only other information I have is that he last worked for Brunswick Balke(pool tables and equipment in Albany NY.Anyone having information about the Boa's that might be related may contact me by E-mail at walker@mendax.com

I found all of your messages very interesting and thank those of you who replied to my message. I found it interesting that most of the Boas found their way to North America in the 1800's. I will tell you what very little I know. My grandmother was Janet Kathleen Boa born march 31,1893, to William Boa(Law Clerk) and Mary Abigail Boa(Green), in Edinburgh. My grandmother Immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada in the 1920's, when she married my grandfather Leonard Lawrence Platts. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Debbie; I found you message about your family emigrating form Scotland to Canada interesting. My relatives left Scotland in the early 1800 and stopped in Quebec, Canada. My parents moved to Regina prior to my birth and then moved to Colorado. I am very interested in the Boa Family in Scotland. I am sure we are related in one way or another but I don't know enough about the Scottish relatives to do more than speculate. Please feel free to drop me a note RBoa@aol.com

Message to Pamela Boa Passmore. My name is Stewart Thomas Boa and I'am related to the BOA'S from Lachute, Quebec. Last year there was a Boa Family Reunion an Lachute and I found out then that I had more relatives than I would have thought. A short while ago, in talking to one of our cousins, I found out that you know a one Margaret Gordon. I met her last fall at the reunion and she is a lovely person. If the info., that I just talked about, is correct then maybe we should e-mail each other, but not through this message board (I started this message board).
Thank you, for your time. My e-mail address is: boasnake007@msn.com Stewart

Hello,
Ran across your posting while looking for a Lachute message board. I have copies of two church records of the births of children of a William Todd and an Amelia Boa, one in 1867 & 1868. These were from the Lachute Methodist church records I believe. I kept them because I have Todd's in Lachute who had a son named William but am not sure if this is mine. Maybe this is your Amelia? Good luck in your searching.
