Surnames: Bly
A male descendant of Benjamin Bly 1737 of Voluntown, Ct and a male descendant of Jonathan Bly, 1732 of North Kingstown, RI tested Y-DNA in 2014 and matched with zero mutations on 37 markers.
This is very rare and a very close connection. There is a probability of 97.23% they have a common ancestor at 8 Generations.

Jonathan Bly's father was William Bly of North Kingstown, RI., proven Jonathan's indentureship papers. William was the only son of Daniel Bly of North Kingstown, RI, proven by Daniel's will. Daniel is the 8th generation.

These tests were done to prove Benjamin's birth in America and encourage the further study of his American ancestry. A large number of ancestry trees erroneously list his birth in England. There is a birth record for a different Benjamin Bly in Drayton Parslow, Buckinghamshire, England. Details on this Bly are on another post - The Drayton Bly family. They have no relationship to the Voluntown Bly.

There two possible fathers of Daniel Bly in New England - John Bly (Bligh) of Salem and Thomas Bligh of Boston. Both men arrived in the 1630s. Evidence leans toward Thomas Bligh as the patriarch.
