DURANT, Iowa
Virgil R. Blowers, 73, of Durant, died on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at his home in Durant.

Services will be at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. The Rev. Bill VanPatten will officiate. Interment will be at Blue Grass Cemetery. Organist will be Kathleen Stone and vocalist will be Brenda Smith.

Visitation will be held at Bentley Funeral Homes in Durant. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

He was born on April 14, 1927, the son of Thomas and Inez Armstrong Blowers in Lansford, N.D.. He married Marjorie J. Nettleton on Feb. 13, 1947, in Mohall, N.D.

He was employed as a Farmhand at Stecher Farms for 20 years, retiring in 1984. He later worked at the Durant Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Blowers of Durant; four daughters, Patricia Henry and her husband, Gordon, of Grand Fork, N.D., Janice Maness and her husband, Kenneth, of Davenport, Glenda Blowers of Durant, Nancy Hamilton and her husband, John, of Davenport; a son, Robert Blowers and his wife, Judy, of Davenport; a sister, Evelyn Nettleton of Lansford, N.D.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Karen Classon.
