No Blisses at Belstone

I am repeating this message which was added to another thread some time ago so that those seeking information about 'Thomas Blisse of Belstone and his family' are assured that Bliss FHS denial of this false genealogy is based on recent experienced research in the records of Belstone parish in England.

This item from BLISS, the magazine of the Bliss FHS, December 2007 dispels lingering beliefs that the Bliss family ever lived at Belstone.

"Dear Mr. Bliss,
I have checked the original parish register of Belstone (REF:PR1 1552-1664) for any Bliss entries prior to 1638. I found no relevant entries of baptism, marriages or burial. However, there were a number of Ellis entries and E is very similar to B in Elizabethan secretary hand. This may be why confusion has arisen.
I hope that this information is useful to you, please do not hesitate to contact us again if we can be of any further assistance
