Evidence suggests that Joshua and the elder William were brothers, sons of Thomas and Ann ? Blanton and grandsons of Thomas and Jane Maguffey Blanton of Essex County, VA. There is no evidence for the father of the elder Thomas. If you see genealogies on the web that show a John Blanton as father, it is probably ultimately based on the spurious one by Noah Bradley. People blindly copy it from site to site.
