Belle Walker Blankenship

Mrs. Belle Walker Blankenship, age 90, of Dysartsville, passed away Friday, January 30, 2009 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Home in Shelby, N. C. A native of McDowell County, Belle was born May 12, 1918 and was a daughter of the late Furman Duck Walker and Sarah Pyatt Walker. She was the oldest member of Dysartsville Baptist Church. She loved to quilt and was very talented in this area. Her husband, Eliga Blankenship and a son, Davie Hoyle Blankenship, preceded her in death.
Surviving Mrs. Blankenship are three children: Lorene Buchanan of Dysartsville, Eddie Blankenship and wife Lisa of Shelby and Audrey Hudson of Athens, GA; one brother, Frank Walker of Gastonia; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 1, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Revs. Aaron Vess, Bobby Gettys and Walker Toney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 � 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Eddie Blankenship, 3113 Pokeville Road, Shelby, N. C. Interment will be in Dysartsville Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dysartsville Baptist Church Building Fund, 24 Club House Road, Nebo, N. C. 28761.
