Charles Edward "Chuck" Blankenship
(May 26, 1947 - January 27, 2007)

Charles Edward “Chuck” Blankenship, 59, of 701 Washington Avenue, Princeton died suddenly Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital following an apparent heart attack. Born May 26, 1947, at Princeton, he was the son of Charles & Bevadell Blankenship of Wood Street in Princeton. Chuck was educated in Princeton, was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving with the U.S. Armed Forces under the 1st Infantry Division and the 101st Airborne Division. He received many forms of recognition for his service including: the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharp-Shooting Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge and several commendation medals. Chuck had been employed by the West Virginia Department of Highways for 39 Years. Survivors His son, Charles “Eddie” Blankenship of Princeton Mother & Father Bevadell & Charles Blankenship of Princeton Two Siblings Connie Dobbins and Ronald Blankenship both of Princeton Three nephews and nieces Kevin Dobbins of Ohio Charles Blankenship of Princeton Kellie Hedrick of Princeton Several Great Nieces and Nephews He is also remembered by his special friend, Cora Viers of Princeton, his former wife, Diane Blankenship of Virginia and step daughter, Stephanie Simpkins of Virginia. A memorial service will be held 8:00 P.M. Tuesday (today) from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. A eulogy will be given by Charles Mathena. Entombment will follow at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum in Princeton. Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday by 10:30 AM. Military Funeral Honors will be conducted by the WV Honor Guards.
