Looking for Blankship relatives with Polycystic Kidney Disease.

My grandmother was Olivia, Livia, Levia Stewart from Kentucky.
She married James Tyree. My grandmother was Amanda Stewart from Carter County Kentucky. I believe James Tyree was also from Kentucky.

My father in law is a Blankenship. He has kidney disease but I believe it is from diabetes. What's going on?

Trena, is this what used to be called Bright's Disease?

Lucinda

You were obviously named after a relative. My research on the Blankenship found Lucinda.

My grandmother was Amanda Stewart Tyree m. George Voiers, WVA. She was raised in KY. She died from a kidney disease and that is all we were told.
I have polycystic kidney disease (heriditary) trying to find Blankenships with pkd and also Tyrees. I have also found Blankenships with kidney disease relating to diabetes and pkd. I am currently waiting for a kidney transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN.

Thank you for your reply. Trena

Lucinda is a family name on my maternal side of the family-I'm a Blankenship by marriage <grin>. Good luck to you with the kidney transplant. I hope one is found for you. As I told you my father in law suffers from diabetes and kidney problems as well as heart problems. All of his brothers as well as a sister have either died from or have now the same type of problems. His mother died of Malignant Nephrosclerosis or a fast moving form of kidney disease linked to high blood pressure. His mother, however, was a Blankenship by marriage, too. It seems that heart disease and diabetes runs rampant in the Blankenship family. I have yet to find on our branch PKD, though.

Janet

Yes this is what was called Bright's Disease.

I did have a kidney transplant on 12/18/2006, our wedding anniversary.

I know polycystic kidney disease is in the Blankenships.

Hope to hear from you. Trena trenalevad@yahoo.com

I am so sorry to hear that you had to have a kidney transplant. I hope you will be o.k. now. The Blankenships I descend from all lived to be in their 80s or older and i was suprised to learn a few years ago, that my Daddy's grandfather has died in his early sixties. My Dad just said he did not know why John Henry passed away so young, just that he was very sick. I was curious and obtained a copy of his death certificate in which it stated his cause of death as Bright's Disease. i looked it up on explainations of old diseases and found that it was a disease of the liver. That is all I know. So what is it that you had, what causes it, etc. Sounds like we are truly cousins. My lines comes from Ralph to Hudson to John Buck to Reuben to John Henry. Glad to hear from you. During my searching, I keep going to the Ford Family, somehow this is connected. Also it sends me to Finland, polycystic kidney disease and mental illness. Schizophrenia runs in the family, still working on which family but I feel that it is from my grandmother's side which leads to Tyree, Blankenship.

It used to be called Bright's disease
