Widow of Civil War Veteran Dies
Mrs. Alvin Blakeslee, 89 Years, Was Wed in 1868
Montague, Oct. 19--(Special)--Mrs. Josephine M. Blakeslee, 89 years old, widow of Alvin C. Blakeslee, Civil War veteran, died Friday at her home here where she had resided for about 20 years. Mrs. Blakeslee died in 1938. (typed as in the article-they probably meant Mr. Blakeslee?)
Born July 12, 1851, Mrs. Blakeslee was married in 1868 three years after Mr. Blakeslee returned from the Civil War.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Linnie Schroeder of Montague and Mrs. Winnie Schildmeyer of Marengo, IL., a son, Henry of Montegue, and five grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist church with Rev. August Klaiber officiating. Burial will be in Montague cemetery.
