My ggrandfather, Marvin Lee Blair, dob: 8/3/1879, lists his parents on his birth cert as "William Blair" and "Tillie Smoots". I have never found a William Blair married to a Smoot in Kentucky. Family lore says that William is "William Irvin" who married Luella West.

On the 1880 census, I found something I had overlooked. James Riley Blair's third wife was a Sarah P. Smoot and her sister, Matilda Smoot (probably Tillie), age 23, is shown to be living with them. There is also an "Irvine" in the house, age 20, that is probably William Irvin.

I'm wondering if anyone has any info on whether

a) this "Irvine" is William Irvin,

b) if anyone has any info on William Irvin giving birth to a son before his marriage to Luella West and

c) if anyone has any info on the family of Sarah Smoot who married James Riley.
