Clifton Blackwell of TN is deceased. He was a descendant of Isaiah Blackwell who was my Joel Blackwell's brother. This is documented in Isaiah's Will of 1810 in Rutherford Co. NC.

There is much confusion in the Blackwell men of Rutherford Co. NC and spilling over into SC. There is a Joel Blackwell born ca 1737 that is MY ancestor and the brother of Isaiah and neither of these men were preachers. There is the Rev. Joel Blackwell who has been confused with MY Joel Blackwell. There is a preacher Zachariah Blackwell who is the son of Daniel Blackwell. We believed that Daniel was a brother of MY Joel and Clifton's Isaiah. There is only ONE Rev. Joel Blackwell and he is NOT related to our Blackwells at this time.

I forget the name of the book, but there is a book on the internet and in NC which does a brief biography of all of the early pioneer preachers in this area. You will find it interesting reading and it will help you placing these men.
