William Brown Blackstone (Blackston)

My name is Jason K. Darby, and I am the great-great grandson of W.B. (William Brown) Blackston. W.B. was born in 1854, the son of James and Maria Blackstone in Guersney Ohio, and died in 1927 in Caldwell County Missouri. Currently I am seeking any information on WB, specifically I am looking for a picture of him. If anyone has any information concerning this, help would be most appreciated.

BLACKSTONES & NESBITT Family, Augusta, (Richmond County) GA

Does anyone have any NESBITT family members in their database that lived in the Augusta, GA area 1850 - 1910? My name is Blackstone, but my Y-chromosome DNA is linked to the NESBITT lineage. My guess is that this is from illegitimacy or adoption. It could be that the parents of a male NESWBITT child died and the child was raised by a BLACKSTONE family and the child took on the BLACKSTONE surname. Here are a few of my BLACKSTONE ancestors:

James Coleman BLACKSTONE (spoke Indian)
b. July 22, 1863, Augusta, GA
d. March 10, 1933, Augusta, GA
married to Susan "Suzie" Ann Hutto

Zephaniah M. "Dock", "Zeptha" Blackstone (gunsmith to Native Americans)
Richmond Factory Guards, Barney's Company(Civil War), Augusta, GA
b. 1837, GA
d. After 1890
1'st wife: Behethlan "Hetty" ELLIS
2nd wife: Amanda E. Thomas, Columbia County, GA

Any help would be appreciated.

James (Jim) Otto Blackstone III
jim38@charter.net
www.jimblackstone.com

Dear Chrystal,

There is a DNA available for females (and males): Mitochondrial DNA (MTDNA). This is passed on through the female line ie it is inherited from your mother, who in turn inherited it from her mother. It wouldn't help you with your Blackstone line. That would really require a brother, father, uncle or male Blackstone cousin testing.

All the best,
Chris

For those of you connected to the Durham Blakiston/Blackstone family I thought that you might be interested in some recent DNA data on their very early prehistoric background. My cousins results place then firmly and squarely as Celtic. In that he has been ascribed to a haplogroup given the name R1b1c10. This haplogroup is connected to the La Tene celtic tribe.

See this websites:
http://bj1-2.electronicbox.net//S28/

And Wikipedia's comments:
R1b1c10
The R1b1c10 (S28) subclade's discovery was announced in 2005 by EthnoAncestry. Although sample sizes are relatively small, it appears to reach a maximum in Alpine Germany and Switzerland. Ethnoancestry's commercial and research branches have shown that S28 is found from Greece westward to the Bay of Biscay in France. It appears to follow the distribution of the La Tene Celtic peoples. The percentages here are much less than found in the Alps. It has yet to be found anywhere in Ireland or Spain. Northern Italy seems to be a meeting place for both S21 and S28. Like S21, S28's specifications were not initially officially published by EthnoAncestry against their previous assertions that data would be publicly published; but again the marker was subsequently identified independently (as their "U152") by Sims et al (2007).
William Baldwin Blackstone

I think that I have found your William Blackstone and family. On the 1920 Mendes,; 1700-Militia District, Tattnall, Georgia census, there is Will Blackston, 52, born in Georgia. He is widowed and is shown with his children, Foy, age 16, born in Georgia being the second oldest. On the 1920 Glennville, Tattnall, Georgia census, William B. Blackston, 42, is shown as head of household. It is hard to read but his wife's name looks like it is shown as Ezma M., 34, and they have been married 10 years. They have 7 children, with 6 living. Foye, age 7, is the second oldest child. On the 1900 1432-Militia Dist, Tattnall, Georgia is W. B. Blackston, 33, born Oct 1867 and his wife Ezzie born June 1875. On the 1880 4-Militia Dist, Columbia, Georgia census is Baldwin Blackstone, 13, with his father George F. Blackstone, 33, born in Georgia and his mother Frances, 40, born in Georgia. I believe that George's father is Bennington Baldwin Blackstone and his mother is Sarah Ann Baston. I think that Bennington's father is James Blackston(e) and his mother was Frances Rees.

My oldest known Blackstone is Richard, born 1791 in South Carolina. He is on the 1850 Gordon County, Georgia census before he traveled to Poinsett County Arkansas and then to Titus County Texas. Richard's daughter, Hannah Longstreet Blackstone married Isaac Roger Riddle in Texas. If anyone has information on this line, please let me know.

Thanks,

Connie

Amber Blackstone of PA

Looking for any information on Amber Blackstone, born in Mercer co., Pa., about 1900, daughter of J Norman, (J. N.) Blackstone, born in Pa. and Cora Lininger Blackstone, born in Pa. Her parents moved to Stark co., Canton, Ohio when Amber was very young. They are in the 1910 mirocode Index, Pa census and in the 1920 and 1930 census, Stark co., Canton, Ohio. Amber's father passed away in 1924 and Amber was still living at home until some time after her mother passed away in 1941.
Parents are buried in Greenville, Pa.
Amber married Walter Phillips?,who was from (Stark co., Ohio) family not sure, at Geneva on the Lake, northern Ohio. Believe they stayed in the area. (Amber Blackstone worked for the Hoover Co., in Canton, Ohio for several years) Perhaps never had any children. Need any information, obituary, marriage name and date, address, anything will be appreciated. I have contacted libraries, and they have sent me alot of information of Amber's parents, and Amber listed in phone directories til her mother's death. Thank you in advance.

ISO Amber Blackstone

Need help searching for Amber Blackstone, born in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, to J Norman Blackstone and Cora Lininger. Amber was born in 1900. She was an only child. Her and her family later moved to Stark county, Canton, Ohio. Her father also known as Norman Blackstone, passed away in 1924, Stark county, Canton, Ohio and is buried in Greenville, PA. He was a traveling salesman in Stark county, Canton, Ohio. Her mother, Cora Lininger Blackstone, passed away in 1941, in Stark county, Canton, Ohio and is buried in Greenville, PA. Cora Lininger Blackstone's parents were David Lininger and Elizabeth Artherholt both of Mercer county, PA. I have the death certificates of Amber's parents and their obituaries. Amber Blackstone married at Geneva on the Lake, Ohio, Ashtabula county. Possible married Walter Phillips of Stark county, Canton, Ohio. There is no Ohio records of her marriage or death. I believe she may have married and later moved to Pennsylvania, perhaps where her parents are buried. Need marriage records, which would be in the 1940's and obituary or any other information. Amber Blackstone grandparents were Samuel Blackstone and Susanna Keiffer of Mercer county, Greenville, PA. Amber's father's brother's and sister were: Frank A Blackstone, a successful attorney at law, Nannie L Blackstone. I no of no other children at this time. Thank you for your help in advance. I greatfully apprecitate it.

Mary,
It's me again.
Check out the 1870 census for David Blackston in Chambers Co, AL. The handwritten name of David and Sarah's sixth child has been interpreted as Carloncy age 9. But I suspect that it is your Carrie Loney. If so, there's the solution to your mystery.

Incidentally, David was my great grandfather and Carry was the daughter of my grandfather Leroy That would make Mary G my Dad's cousin.

Bob
Mary Meyer,

I found the census I was looking for. If you go to the 1910 census for Chambers Co. AL, you will find Samuel R and Carrie L Hutson (not Hudson). I knew their daughter Mary George (b. 1899)(She came to Texas for my wedding in 1962.) and heard her talk about Nevada, as well as Harris I was always told she was my Dad's cousin.

Nevada had a different last name in the census.

Carrie was born in Alabama about 1861. There is a Caroline Blackston, age 8, in the 1870 census for Township 17, Walker, Alabama. Her father George was born about 1810 in South Carolina.makes me wonder if it is the same Carrie.

Best I can do for now.

Regards, Bob

Jim,
Various sources have John B being born in Virginia ca. 1778. He married Mary Cliett in Georgia in 1817. David was born in Georgia ca. 1828. They moved to Chambers County in the 1840's. In the 1850 Chambers County census John B (age 71) is living with Mary and several children and David is living not far away with his new wife Sarah. I believe John B passed away that same year. In the 1860 census, the widow Mary is apparently living with David and Sarah. David was in the 47th Alabama Infantry, Co. I, from 1862 on. He returned to Chambers County for the 1870 and 1880 censuses and must have passed away before 1900. I'm sure he and Sarah are buried somewhere in Chambers County. I don't know where John B is buried either but Mary is in Macedonia cemetery west of Lafayette. David's son Leroy D Blackstone (my grandfather) was born ca. 1865 and passed away in 1949. He is buried in Lafayette city cemetery I have been told. I believe his first wife (and my grandmother) Rosa Burroughs (b 1873, d. 1911)is also buried there.

Nice to hear from you - I like your site.

Regards,
Bob

This is kind of a GA Blackstone Genealogy 101 question, but can someone help me remember where Reid's Chapel Cemetery is? On my website I have one called "Blackstone Cemetery" in Grovetown with a virtual tour. It is on the Columbia County side. http://www.jimblackstone.com/Web_Pages/Bstone/Cemetery/GA.ht...

Is this Reid's Chapel Cemetery?

An NGS map I just looked at shows Reid's chapel on the Richmond County side of the line very near Fort Gordon.
http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lon=-82.2189&lat=33.4072 If Reid's Chapel is on Fort Gordon, does anyone know the base number of the cemetery? I have all the Fort Gordon cemeteries on my website at:
http://www.jimblackstone.com/Web_Pages/Bstone/Cemetery/FortG...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

James "Jim" Otto Blackstone III
jim38@charter.net
Hi Bob

And thanks for responding. Congratulations on all the research you've done. Must be great to trace your family back that far.

As for my father's side -- they're from the Maryland area, so I don't think we're related. We also happen to be Black.

Nice hearing from you though.

K
