William Edward Chilcott Blackmore Died at Sea 1899

Classification: Death
Surnames: Blackmore Chilcott Jackson
There was a recent free weekend on Find My Past and while searching for a few people on my tree I discovered the record of William Edward Chilcott Blackmore's death on the Deaths at Sea Register. (I was so shocked that I forgot to search the register for other Blackmore's -- will do next time.)

William had worked as a ship steward as recorded on census returns and certificates. (I note a few people have trees on Ancestry with this individual listed with an 1899 death in Cardiff, Wales of a Railway Porter named William Edward Blackmore whose wife was also Mary.)

William was found dead, cause of death unknown, 14 July 1899. Birth 1846, Bristol. Residence 6 Walton, Bristol. {Residence matches with Mary Catherine's address on the 1901 census} Steamship Ravenswood registered at Whitby, UK. Located at sea 37°N, 50° 58' W (mid-Atlantic) at time of death. (This Ravenswood is a propeller driven steamship constructed at Whitby, not the paddlewheel constructed in Scotland which worked in the Bristol Channel. There are many pictures of the paddlewheel on the internet but I haven't found any of the steamship.)
