Hi there.
I knew
Galen when I lived in Fallbrook,
California (1987-93). She was my dearest friend. I met her in 1989 when she moved into the house I'd sold to her best friend Janet at 212 North Mission Road. She lived in the cottage behind the house and, as I still lived 200 yards up the road, we developed a brilliant friendship. She was the most wonderful, gorgeous, amazing woman I have ever met. She was 10 years older than me and was like a mentor...she was inspirational. She taught me so much, in such a gentle and enlightened way; always genuine and almost ethereal in her world view. I moved back to
England in 1993 and would visit her and Jim once a year when I came back to
California. I miss her so much. I really didn't know what to do when she died; all was lost in the fire and as my computer died too I lost contact with Jim her husband. I keep several photos of her around the house and always smile when I glance at them and think how lucky I was to have had the privilege to have known her. She called and left a message on my answer machine 2 weeks before she died, saying that she missed me and had even had a dream about me. I will always be grateful that I spoke to her with so little time left...it was almost as if she knew.
I did use the surname
Estes at the time...I have since divorced, hence now using my maiden name again (Jalil)and being back in Blighty.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
Regards.
Sabine.
