Hello Helen,

the roots of my family are in Germany, Schleswig-Holstein. This is not far away from the Danish border. Where does your family come from?

Greetings

Hi Helen,

most probably there is no close family connection between your and my family. My Blaas branch lived in Northern Germany several hundred kilometers away from Rees. My fahter who did a lot of research on the family was convinced that the Blaas from Germany and Holland were originally based in Austria and Tirol (today Italy). As Lutherians they were forced to leave their homeland in the 16th or 17th century.

Greetings

Dietmar Blaas

Hello,
I'm trying to find out some info, on the Blaas Family.
My great greatgrandmother's name was Mary Blaas.
Born in Innsbrook, Austria.
2/18/1855
She married a martin Wehinger.
Born 10/18/1853
10 min. from the swiss border a old town.
I think called Foralterberg , Austria.

They had one daughter, before they came over to the US.

Any info would be great. Mary had a brother that had been a priest. They lived in Dorbin before coming to the US.

Hello,
I'm trying to find out if anyone knows of the Blaas Family or Wehinger Family.
My great grandfather name was Martin Wehinger.
And my great grandmother name was Mary Blaas.

They had a daughter Hermania Wehinger before they came to the US.

Grandparents left Dorbrin Austria ,on Feb. 26, 1884.
Mary Blaas had a brother Hermann Georg Blaas.
I think he became a pastor?

I think Martin Wehinger father's name was Lawerence and mother Barb Wehinger.

If anyone has a thought please help.

Their son never had any children. Thank-you

Here is the record of your family from the official ancestry website for Dornbirn, Austria:

http://lexikon.dornbirn.at/Dornbirn-family-book-data.1152.0....

Wehinger is one of the oldest family names in Austria and actually dates back to the early part of the Hapsburg dynasty. There is a lot of information regarding their history but you do have to do a bit of research to find it. I hope this helps.
