Re: Olavus or Olaus Bjerke
Not sure if the prior posters will login to see this, but... My great grandfather was Olaus Bjerke who farmed in Clearbrook Minnesota. Olaus was married to Hannah Hansen and they had many offspring. My grandfather Adolf was the oldest son to Olaus and Hannah. The Olaus referenced in post 1 was married to someone different, thus a different person, I think. The Olaus in post 2, had a child Josephine, my grandfather did not. The Olaus in post 3 had a daughter named Laura, my grandfather did have a daughter named Laura, but she married a Kalsness and lived in North Dakota. I relate all of this, because the reference in the second post to Olaus farming in Clearwater appeared to suggest my great grandfather, but the other information in these posts suggest it is a different Olaus Bjerke.
Good Luck with all your searches...

Re: Olavus or Olaus Bjerke
I am somewhat confused at this point. I know my grandmother Josephine had a brother Adolph and I also seem to remember her mothers maiden name being Hansen. The only solution would be that her name " Josephine" happened to be a nick name. I have an obituary from grandmas bible for Adolph, it says that he lived in B.C., Canada

Re: Olavus or Olaus Bjerke
This is a correction to my previous post today. I re-checked Adolph's obit and he did not live in B.C. that was his brother George. In the obituary my grandmother Josephine is identified as Mrs. Dorsey Spencer which was actually my grandfathers name. She is listed as a sister though.

Re: Olavus or Olaus Bjerke
Laura Bjerke Kalness was my grandmother. She was not married when she gave birth to my Dad, so our last name is Bjerke. Yes, gg Olaus had alot of kids. Adolph, Edwin, Ole, Josie, Laura, George, Hilda, Christine, Selma, Ethel and perhaps others. I remember seeing all of the above when I was a child. Edwin's wife is Astrid Bjerke and the last I knew lived in a senior community in Clearbrook. All of the rest have passed. Adolph was married to Hulda, Edwin to Edna, Josie to Dorsey (Jr.?), Laura to Carl Kalness, Hilda to Arvid Engberg, Christine to Charley Wesby, Selma to Russell Nissen. I cannot remember Ethel's husband at this time. I remember meeting George when he came to Clearbrook in the late '50's but don't remember his wife. He had a son named Alvin. That was my Dad's name.

Re: Olavus or Olaus Bjerke
Correction: Ethel was not one of Olaus' children, she was Arvid and Hilda's daughter. Sorry. Also should mention that GG & GGM along with several of their children are buried at the Seljord Lutheran Church in rural Clearbrook. The church is within sight of Olaus' place, Adolph's and Ole's.

Re: Olavus or Olaus Bjerke
Carl Kalness was my great-uncle and I remember Aunt Laura very well, having stayed at their house in Larimore several times. I am interested in pictures or family information on the Kalness side if you have any. Thank you.
