My last name is Bjelopetrovich, I know that my ancestors came to the United States through Ellis Island and then settled near Mingo Junction Ohio. I believe that the spelling of the name was either Bielopetrovic or Bellopetrovic after they settled. If anyone has any information about this name please let me know.

Hi

I browsed the net for my family name and saw your post.
Before your family came to America they would spell your last name like we spell it now - Bjelopetrović.

They most likely came from Croatia (part of ex-Yugoslavia at the time).

I will be glad to answer any questins you might have.

Feel free to email me: radomirb(at)gmail.com

Kind regards,

Radomir

I am trying to learn more about my Serbian heritage. I have been doing a lot of research on the internet but have come up unsuccessful. My grandfather, Mirko Bjelopetrovich, died in 1996. All that I remember is he was strict he never taught me about my family and I wish he did. My grandmother, Zorka Bjelopetrovich, has become ill after a stroke. She tried to teach me but at the time I didn't think it important. I am very proud to be Serbian but I don't speak a word of Serbian. I was just wondering if any of these names would ring a bell. My grandfather fought for King Peter and came by boat with him to the United States. I am told that he started an organization that helped Serbians in the United States. My grandmother's father, Bozidar Rasic, was an engineer. I'm going to write a list of names and I would like any information on my family that you might know. I was also told that my grandmother's uncle was head of the treasury to the royal family. I don't know his name however. Please if you could even brief information would make me very happy. I want to learn. I don't know where to look. I have no resources except for your website. Our family history may be lost and I want to find it. Please help me. Here are the names.

Grandfather:
Mirko Bjelopetrovich
his parents:
Mihailo and Ljubica Bjelopetrovich

Grandmother:
Zorka Bjelopetrovich
her parents:
Bozidar and Vidosava Bjelopetrovich
Vidosava's parents:
Zorka and Marko Karakasevic

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I pray for a successful response.

Sincerely,
Tatjana Bjelopetrovich

Translated the name means bjelo = white, Petrov = Peter, IC = son. Whitepeterson.

Your family comes from an area (Primislje) called Kordun in Croatia about 45 WSW of the capital, Zagreb.

Hi Tatjana

My name is Jelena Bjelopetrović.

I hope you can reed this letter and understand it, because my English isn't that good.

I red your letter.I have been doing little research on the internet, also. That is how I found this website and your post.

I was suprised , because i recognised names you wrote. I think we are related, but I need some more informations from you.
I think that your grandfather and mine, are brothers. My grandfather's name was Nikola Bjelopetrović.He and my grandmother Draginja lived in Primišlje(Croatia) and thay had five children.
If we are related I think your grandfather should have had 11 brothers and sisters(my grandfather Nikola is one of them), and 4 children.
Bjelopetrović family is large.I know that some of them are living in USA, and others in Serbia.(I live in Serbia.)I perconaly know only those that are living in Serbia.I don't know everyone that lives in USA,so I think it is posible that we are sisters(I wish we are), but I am not sure.
Please, tell me your parent's names, and some other names you know(uncels, ants),when were they born, where are they living.... That can be halpfull.

I hope you will see this letter, because you wrote yours long time ago, and I realy hope, you will write back.

Sincerely,
Jelena Bjelopetrović

I just stumbled on this site on Christmas Eve..I can admit that one of my Aunt's and I have been trying to find some family history or any information for a few years and have had no luck..All but 1 of the older Bielopetrovich's are now deceased..My Great Grandfathers' name was Eli Bielopetrovich and my Grand Mother was Mary (Mirich), my Grandfathers name was Bogden and he had 6 brothers..They did not talk about there family history. The only thing that I do know is that my Grandfather and at least 2 of his brother's married Catholic girls and their families dis-owned them, and my father was baptized Roman Catholic. I would love to hear from anyone with this name, besides the one's that I do know here in the U.S.A...I hope this is seen and not to late..I am 49 yrs.old myself and am very interested and did live in Ohio but now reside in North Carolina...Bob
